Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Head of Consumer

I find it fascinating that Wells Fargo could not attract a top level proven leader to head up the Consumer Bank. Wells Fargo has one of the best footprints across the US and a great network of branches to serve customers. Wells Fargo should be able to attract the best of the best to lead this group.

Instead, we decide the best candidate we can come with an internal promotion, the head of IT. Where the he-l is the board? Why isn't someone questioning Charlie, to say this is the best you can come up with? Everyone knows IT at Wells Fargo is a disaster. Not saying, he created all the IT problems, but he sure hasn't fixed them. What do we think is going to happen in Consumer?

Next thing you know, Dr Bert will take over commercial banking.

Let us not forget the head of DEI also was elevated to run consumer lending. So the whole consumer franchise (One of newt in world) is run by two people with limited credentials

The list of things the id--ts in Hudson Yards "want" the bank to do shrinks by the day. Just a matter of time before we do nothing but credit cards and investment banking, neither one of which we are likely to be especially relevant in.

Yes but Wells has no real interest in consumer banking. Why would a top level consumer banking exec want that? They want to do investment banking and I guess commercial banking. Not consumer.

This was always the path, but they needed Mary to leave on her own volition.

If Charlie keeps making these decisions, do you think the stock will go up or down :)

100% agree. That is always my question:

“Where the he-l is the Board?”

He's an accountant. Maybe this is where he should have come into the bank instead of IT.
Used to be heads of IT came up from tech. Now, they think all you need is a bean counter or some other exec (HR, at one time) to run IT.
