Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

The new low

Confirmed - directive from Robyn is to bring on new hires at one job grade lower than current employees in the Pittsburgh region. Current employees will train these new hires then will be let go as part of a cost savings initiative with a mass layoff effort between year end and early next year.

If you find your team hiring new employees at a lower job grade then you are part of the reduction target. Those new hires are your onshore replacements.

My team hired several contractors in the Pittsburgh region a few weeks ago. Not sure if they are contract to hire, but this seems risky to replace seasoned employees with short term contractors if that is what is happening here

It’s very commercial to reduce grade levels and lay off highly paid workers.

It’s called “envy” and it’s as old as mankind.

Your @Grim doesn’t work. You can’t simply make up Web 2.0 symbols and expect them to work. Allow me to guess… University of Phoenix Grad?

@2ffe

You’re worked up over something and passionate about it as well, which is cool. But the problem is that your post makes absolutely no sense.

Why don’t you try again and maybe we can get onboard. Read it four times but you’re really out there.

@1aig+1my1d3Bc He will end up creating a Strong Lobby of High Net Worth individuals, fooling the shareholders, Clients and Employees by selling his Commercial campaign, while he rakes tens or millions of dollar bonus each year. Chief Commercial or Growth Officer portfolio are usually created to siphon the organization's money.

@Grim: this new highly paid Chief Commercial Officer looks like she was canned from Alight. Let’s keep hiring high-paid flunkies from other companies and expecting different results. What could go wrong?

I think most people hate these CEO’s guts and all their underlings.

The hypocrisy of cheeping out on the people doing the work while he & his cronies rake in 10’s of millions each per year

@1zwf King Robin hired Chief Commercial Officer to handle that portfolio , so now they are left with Overpaid middle layer of management and trained new hires to take the commercial campaign till the next CEO is onboarded.

King Robin on his next video in British accent , " We are delighted to have onboarded such a talented pool of individuals who will be vital in helping the company evolve to the next phase of its commercial growth."

Kind of think that they’re grooming and teaching kids their pronoun options in Elementary School these days.

In elementary school it always teach about honesty and sharing, in BNY they always teach greedy and throwing someone under the bus. What is the point learning in elementary school? Fire all school teachers. Let's fight to the bitter end.

@OP

Ha ha… too funny. What will Robin think when he discovers that we pay new hires more than existing employees. So we’ll pay more even as we lose the expertise of those who will train them

This is what you get when you hire a C.E.O. who started at the top as a birthright.

All of the good cuts are in the 8-10 layers of middle management.

When you can’t figure out how to actually grow the business, the only way make their numbers is by cuts. Too bad the regular employees will suffer instead of who they should get rid of: the overpaid and useless middle managers.

HOLY $&@- we are hiring on several new people and an overhaul of procedures, a quiz about them, and training these new hires already has everyone suspicious that something as up.

Heard 2 mangers talking today in Pittsburgh lobby how they were told they have figure how to get along with less employees as their department is being drastically cut in the coming months for cost saving measures.

Sounds like a good choice if you're in a race to the bottom.

I've seen this happen at other companies I've worked at. Refuse to train the new employees and state that it is not a part of your job description.
