Peakon - BNYM cares about our health

Had this question on the survey this week...

NYC has the worst air quality due to Canadian wildfires and authorities are saying to stay in doors. We still need to come to office for RTO though.. BNYM cares about our health so much. We all need to be grateful to BNYM.

Take some advice from an Asthmatic. Change your filter more often and get familiar with your recirculation button.

The merv rating for car filters and the BK hvac doesn't come close to filtering smoke from the wild fires. Sure, it filters some, but not much. That's why you can still smell smoke when you drive pass something burning.

Hasn’t been a car built without a without filtration mechanism for decades. Please tell me that you change your filter at least once a year.

@1mit+1n06qVdK - you must be clueless. We don’t have air filtration in our car keeping us from inhaling bad air or smelling fire. And some people have to drive an hour or more in and you can’t even open the window for fresh air. Let’s not talk about walking across the parking lot into the building either. It’s called common sense and consideration for your employees. It was advised we not breath it in because of how bad it was in some places of NY. If you don’t work here then you wouldn’t have a clue and if you do then you’re clueless like I said . It’s not about using an excuse to wfh. U like most I’ve been coming since it started last year and since 3 days a week started unlike most people in this company

@OP+1n06qVdK - NYC did not have the worst air quality. Central Ny did. We hit a 460 on a scale of 500 for air quality and we’re closer to Canada. People need to remove their head from their ar-e cause NYC doesn’t make up the whole damn state and shouldn’t always be the only focus. Air quality there sucks on a normal basis cause it always smells like sh-t there and it’s over populated and dirty in a regular basis

No, they want us back to work AT work because productivity has been unbelievably low for 2 1/2 years of home based fun and games.

In the immortal words of Flounder in Animal House “You f***ed up. You trusted us!”

Robins not about to repeat that mistake.

@1gpi, nope. I'm sure you wish it was true, but it isn't.

That’s reasonable advice. Every car has several filters, the office filtration system is state of the art and your home is by far the most risky environment for this smoke.

Ordinarily I’d agree with you, but our workers’ actions over the 2-3 year COVID era, followed by the worker resistance to RTO and the measurements of remote work have led our new C.E.O. To distrust us. Generally I agree with Robin.

Sadly we’re all getting tagged with the same label. It shouldn’t be us vs management. It should be productive committed employees calling out less committed employees to shape up. Right now we’re getting what we deserve.

Just one man’s opinion.

Listen, these fires are not indicative of management’s intentions at all. Had they wanted to, we’d all be dead

People here are constantly demanding work from home for every little thing. It’s by far the #1 most common demand and complaint. Worse, people bragged about calling out all through the COVID era. Obviously HR monitors this site and likely more than Peakon for sure. If that wasn't so then the Bank would likely have suggested it. We all enjoyed work from home but productivity did suffer. It’s sad but had we all been adults over the past 2 or 3 years we would be trusted.

Look, BNYM only wants their workforce back after the now 2 1/2 year COVID slowdown. It’s totally reasonable for a company to demand that the work they’re paying us to do gets done, and the fact is that our remote work did not measure up to our on site work.

They treated us like adults and we blew it. Not all of us, but the majority for sure. Those who disagree should find another job. But it’s hard to turn it back on after a work slowdown.

No one is demanding WFH. Clearly you were not in my building or locale. The point is that adult, professional employees should have been accorded the respect to make their own decisions for the last two days of the week. Instead of worrying about what kindergarten color coding a person will end up being. There is less and less consideration of and respect given to employees. So, what’s your favorite flavor of Kool Aid?

The Bank isn’t responsible for the weather, let alone a a wild fire a thousand miles west of us. You’re fine in your house, you’re fine commuting in your car and you’re fine in our buildings. No slap in the face at all… in fact the office offers the best air filtration.

The answer to every little thing can’t be staying home. When we complain about every little thing and demand WFH we have no credibility.

It was smoke from half the continent away. Obviously you should have stayed home and inside your home. And of course you should call out just as any other workday.

What a slap in the face that email was. We could smell smoke in the lobby big time and even on the upper floors. Yet come to work-and wear a mask. Well I commute to work like everyone else-how is the air filtration in the building helping my commute? Callous and uncaring. It would have fostered a lot of good will to suspend the 3 days a week for this week. But NOOOOOO everything is normal and get your axx in. Terrible decision.

Email just came out. Your health is our primary concern, so come to office anyway, and you may wear a mask if you choose.

Yet Hochul just advises us to stay indoors instead of lending resources to help Canada fight the fires. And who knows what Brandon is doing.
