Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Lots of PAN folks boomeranging to Cisco

Now that PAN is fading to irrelevance (early lead made them think they could overcharge, now Fortinet is crushing them) they are all coming back. lol. I never see PAN in my security deals any more. They being a one trick pony never helped either as they never got traction beyond firewall.

Whatever you gotta tell yourself. You’re a tiny little company with barely any revenue and relevance.

Almost $6.5B in annual revenue bests Arista, Fortinet and Juniper and PAN has better than 24% quarterly growth yoy. The best numbers I can find are for Cisco's "end-to-end security" segment which did $948M in Q2 2023 which annualized is well under PAN. While PAN isn't a giant it isn't completely irrelevant either.

I still work for Cisco (UK&I) Presales unfortunately - trying to change that situation. I had downloaded a Cortex whitepaper from PAN website. Received a call from a lady at PAN and turns out Cisco themselves are looking at Cortex and Prisma access for internal use . To the point where PAN has a dedicated Account and AM for Cisco, the self proclaimed security hub for everything! That, in my mind, says it all! So, have to agree with @6uub+1n0Z0yRr .

@6uub+1n0Z0yRr Whatever you gotta tell yourself. You’re a tiny little company with barely any revenue and relevance. Stock price doesn’t reflect reality so sell while you can.

I work at PAN, and I worked at Cisco for 12 years. Not sure where this is coming from. PAN is cleaning Cisco's clock, and pretty much everyone else. Cisco is NOT considered a competitor on the FW front. Fortinet is considered a PRICE competitor, but not a technical competitor. IE, they can be a LOT cheaper then PAN.

As far as one trick pony, I dont get that either.. While the Cortex suite of products may not be crushing it, the Prisma Access and Cloud portfolio is doing quite well. In addition, all the Cloud Delivered Subscriptions are doing very well also.

If it makes people feel better saying PAN is dead or dying, so be it, ill just cuddle up with my stock as it goes through the roof while Cisco just stays flat.

I left Cisco for a major pure security vendor and out of those 2 and PAN, only PAN had an actual good past quarter, as confirmed by a former colleague who's having the time of his life. Should've gone for them...

This is very common if you want to get a big bump at Cisco. Leave for a year or two then come back. I know 3 engineers who did this and got a significant raise.

Looks like the GSSO SLT (former PAN) is posting trying to make everyone feel good that this is a better place to be after the other post blistering them and their 2% growth. The current GSSO SLT has sunk the business with their reorganization.

Lol. You are drinking that GSSO kool-aid. Cisco’s security biz will end up like the original Kool-aid drinkers.

PAN hasn’t really been a big name in the industry for a few years.

agreed. It was predictable since they only sold firewalls and never really improved them or did well branching out. Still surprising to see the huge fall.
