Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New Slogan ….. Value of Care…

DWs pushing the new corporate tag line….”We have a value of care, caring for each other, caring about the impact that we have on society and in the environment.”

Wonder if the 1000s of people no longer with company are feeling the care.

In fact, how many current employees think this is total BS hypocrisy?

Just remember, Darwood cares.

: @ifig+1n2UVhgQ - do you work in management?

This is precisely the corporate view that comoditises any technical discipline. Depth, experience, expertise, application is not valued, hence the view you are endorsing.

I will be leaving early in 2024 to work with people who do value the differentiators above. There is a reason why value is priceless, but as you show, cost is often king now.

This is total BS. The company only cares what value it can su-k out of you. If making you think they care means you work harder mission accomplished. They will jot hesitate to fire you the millisecond they think they do t need you.

Everyone is selling their skills and knowledge to the company at market value (approximately salary). Promotions and RSU are about your future value to the company and making it harder for a competitor to hire you away. ALL are also competing with talented people in India, BA, Hungary, MAL that will eventually be able to do your job at half the cost of your salary...SO YOU BETTER BE DEVELOPING NEW SKILLS THAT ARE NOT DONE in BSCs or your market value is the salary in India (ie you will PIP) because EVERYONE can be replaced at a lower COST.

This is why corporations should have "voluntary" separation packages and call it a layoff. Unfortunately, ExxonMobil executives are afraid that too many "chosen" or "sponsored" employees will take the money and move on to a much kinder gentler corporation.

As Lee Raymond, our CEO, in 1999 once said, "We do not pay employees to live this corporation."

We still have too many senior executives that were mentored by Lee Raymond's chosen in 1999.

I had a department manager that cared about me.

He told me that I was the top performer in our group but that he was unable to place me at the top of our group because there were “chosen” individuals in our group that senior management demanded to be placed at the top. He told me I was lucky that there were not more chosen people in our group.

He said even if I was top performer the next year, I would get the same ranking for the same reason.

He really cared enough to tell me the truth, but please please do not tell anyone that much truth because it will just destroy their attitude and loyalty to EM.

In this case, caring should mean not telling the whole truth.

The try mark of a great Energy Giant - coming up with new slogans and acronyms.
Who knew?
Employees are our greatest assets
Safety is everybody’s business
Courage of conviction

On and on. I bet the Execs have a new slogan contest each year. The one who wins gets RSU, Promotion, and $$$ pay increase. Never mined all he did was send the request down chain - and the person who truly one doesn’t know because they got NSI.

Caring, but setting the % of NSI prior to an assessment is simply a layoff of many fellow employees that he cares about.

NSI is not related to performance.

NSI just means “No Sponsor Inplace”

The value of care at ExxonMobil is when a supervisor tell a loyal employee that nobody cares about what they do. The value of care is when supervisor tell an employee their performance is lacking when months before, they were told they are the best at what they do. The value of care is to cherry pick KO to manipulate the outcome of an assessment. The value of care is when supervisors collude with others to reassign work from the most qualified to the least qualified to build fiefdoms. Value of care is to tell long time employees who pour their souls into a job that their skills are no longer relevant. The value of care is not allowing your employee to get the training they need so they can gain the skills needed to help the company. The value of care is not trusting your best employee who tells you what you need to hear but choosing the frauds who only tell you what you want ti hear.

Ironic that I have never met ANYONE in EM that cared for DW.

Not a leader.

DW should make an excuse about family emergency and exit EM.

He would exit if he actually “cared” about EM.

Wow.

This dude lives in a parallel universe.

My EM universe is the definition of lack of care.

Lack of care for each other, for quality and quantity of work, for honestly, and for competency.

Yeah, I've got your "value of care".... it's 8 inches long and hangin and swingin. Let me know if you wanna test drive it @ the campus.

Please note that due to the high demand anticipated, this is a very limited time offer and not available to any of the Fuglies.

I have not yet heard of the 'Value of Care' initiative.
But it sounds consistent with the meaningless words I hear every day with the company.
I wouldn't get it tattooed on the forehead just yet.
There'll be a new one tomorrow.
