Apollo/Brightspeed bought Lumen's wireline business. And now our old executive team is running Brightspeed. Bob Mudge is CEO and Tom Maguire is COO. I could see them buying it especially with Apollo's financial backing.
Totally true.
Cmon 6&6…….I’m outta here
No way. No one wants an old obsolete telco with entitled union bloat to top it off.
I think a possible, albeit long shot and long timeline acquisition would be Amazon basically making a play for Verizon. It would give them instance access to a base of customers to solidify Prime retention plus leverage AWS for Verizon's cloud infrastructure needs in telco applications.
Altice was buyer for north of $30B in 2015. Same assets today are maybe $3B.
The sale of wireline will expunge the continuing issue to union forever. Good riddance.
slowly bleeding to death
Liquidate assets to delay bankruptcy.
Why not? Verizon is for sale?? Verizon's needs to rapidly reduce its corporate debt load. Verizon's stock price is down for a strategic reason because it needs an infusion of capital.
Verizon expeditiously losing customers to the other two remaining competitors.
I hasn’t heard this most recent rumor. Several times - the last being prior to the pre-VSP - my understanding wireline came close to being acquired. However, the acquirer came to their senses and Lowell was left at the altar.
What is the source and when, date/time?
