Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Good leadership would at least think about it

I constantly hear people saying that they don't care if they end up on the layoff list. A few years ago such thing was unimaginable to hear because everyone cared about their jobs.

Maybe it's time for the leadership to seriously think about which direction they are taking this company?

Hans was a Blackrock and World Economic Forum pick to weaken the company and make it look more like the globalist competition. Hans's job was to commoditize the company and he has done a very able job. It is amazing that the Feds continue to allow us to run so much of their data and telecom traffic when the company has clearly been compromised and populated with many questionable characters from questionable countries.

All if this is all Verizon employees can talk about. All of what was said in this thread is true and it sucks.

They considered cutting the dividend vs. cutting people. Sorry to say, but maintaining the dividend won out. They care about only one thing - keeping that dividend afloat, which keeps the share price afloat, which keeps their LTI afloat. The incentive unfortunately is not to take the long road to growth. It’s a perverse reward system that requires a doom loop of cutting costs to maintain shrinking margins, the share price, and a large part of their personal compensation. Employees are just costs and will be sacrificed.

I literally feel like having anxiety attacks at least once a month over it for the past couple of years. I know I should just leave but I have a special needs child who needs medical support and I can't take that risk now. I'm afraid one day I'm going to keel over with a stroke. There is no motivation or security. We are just gears in a machine that leadership keeps throwing wrenches into for fun. They really don't care about the wellbeing of associates.

Do they not realize how much better all of us would do if we didn't live each day in fear of decisions made by algorithms, consultants, and leaders who jetset around the world the same day they fire thousands?

I’ve legit had this conversation with three of my coworkers today alone. Ever since Hans was hired, we all now worry about getting fired/laid off.
