Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tangping.

Young Chinese are rebelling against society through a simple act of “tangping”, or laying flat.

Let’s start lying flat at work.

Do the bare minimum.

Slack. Work just enough to not get fired.

There is NO reward for going above and beyond.

Don’t train your Indian replacements.

Reschedule and push meetings around.

Together we can unite in solidarity against the crooked JPM rejects that run this institution.

You decide your future or someone else will.
To baby feet stompers whining about how bad the job/mgmt has become -
Do you get a paycheck? Feel entitled to have your job? Will severance change your life?
Hard work and pride in how you perform will eventually pay off. Nobody owes you anything. Keep waiting for something you have no control over...

Or just ask a pretty coworker if you can slip her your pickle.

That might result in a layoff though. The 'fired' kind of layoff.

Regardless of the Chinese, I have been barely working since RTO. I don’t attend any town halls or DIE events. All my corporate communications goes straight to the junk folder.
Yet I’m still a top producer and deserve an Exceeds compared to my team, yet will only get a meets because of some made up algorithm my manager is working from.
Why bother any more?

I Chinese friend was fond of saying "the only place you find poor Chinese people is in China." He grew up there during a more repressive era, but he wasn't wrong.

In any event, FRTO.

Starting to question the goal of some of these posts.

Well the typical shills pretending to be multiple people on here seem pretty insistent that you should actually work harder while you patiently wait to be laid off, even though you are still doing the job you agreed to do. So as always it's a real tough decision 🤔

This Tangping thing seems like a stretch. Just do enough to earn that meets my dude.

There's a massive difference between the US and China. For one thing, "996" is the standard Chinese work week. 9am to 9pm, 6 days a week. Are you working 72 hours a week at WF? Probably not. I sure wasn't, and I doubt many of my old co-workers were working more than 30-35 with the way WFH days go, to be honest.

The Chinese workers that are most burned out aren't even doing 996, they're working more like 13+ hours a day and often 7 days a week. Of course people will be burned out when working 80 hours a week, but that's easily double what any normal WF employee should be working anyway.

Best thing you can do are to work on getting a worker union going and/or seek employment at a different company. All that slacking / laying flat will do is get you fired for cause, then you won't even get severance.

Dang dude! You have no idea how good you have it and you're comparing your inconvenience to real oppression in China? What next? You'll saying WF is like Na-i Germany because you're being required to show up for work?

Wow! Kinda sad that you're finding equivalence between Chinese folks actively being oppressed by their government, and you being asked to do the job you signed up to do, while being paid for it.

What are you, 12?

You do you. Remember

  • If you don't do what your boss tells you to do, you will be fired
  • If you only do what your boss tells you to do, you will probably get fired.

You have the freedom; use it wisely.
