Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We don't have a performance based culture

We have an environment that is toxic from the top to the bottom and that favors bu-t-kissing and yes-men over hard working individuals who actually contribute to the bottom line. Can somebody tell me when did Verizon turn into this shitshow? I know it wasn't always like this, but I can't pinpoint exactly when the change happened.

I was in the Columbia call center. They boasted about being the biggest center for VZ customer service, took over TYS and absorbed other call centers employees and duties…. And THAT call center was ALWAYS toxic. They didn’t promote off merit. It was always who you knew. They would promote people in the bottom 5% to Pro because they had a cousin or sis on that team, and then pass up people who were legit getting recognition on the daily for ki-ling all the numbers across the board. Sup promotions were the same.

No one has touched on it yet so I’ll just say it.

Telephone companies, especially those with geographical monopolies, don’t have to have a performance-based culture.

It is, in a sense, a country club. And should be. Utilities are about the closest thing to a government job without actually being a state employee. Pays way better.

The current CEO's tenure. The simplest way to correct this culture is to reduce the headcounts of VPs, SVPs, and EVPs. And dont replace nor backfill.

The current CEO after being hired, within the 1st month, was re-interviewing all of these positions to ensure who needs to remain - but then this stopped, and the CEOs initiative got derailed.
