Pointless positions that only create chaos

There is a very interesting phenomena where a VP will ask for something done, and the request moves down through two or three layers of directors, down to the the leader level, and down to an individual contributor to do the actual work.

By the time it's gotten to the worker - the message of what is needed, has been changed 7 times by each leader on down the chain.

We could remove several of the director levels entirely. They are just passing the buck. We have so many pointless director and above positions.

Cisco can no longer innovate and is just managing its inevitable decline into the dustbin of tech industry history. At some point, the San Jose Tech Museum will simply have an AGS+ router on display noting that Cisco once played a major role in creation and growth of the Internet.

Because there is no saving Cisco, several Cisco executives have decided that they should conduct social experiments with the Cisco employee base as a way to entertain themselves. If you don't want to be a lab animal, look for a new place to work.

Keep being outraged.

Here's an idea. Go to a company that pays you better.

We'll measure the number low IQ employees who think they're high IQ by the number of down votes for an actual solution to their complaints.

All the complainers are doing is drinking the kool-aid, not getting additional compensation; while upper-upper management harvest the bonuses and stock options the Cisco masses once took part in.

Keep being outraged. It is a cheap payoff for the Execs to develop a plan for. Maybe another Michelle presentation is in order.

An introduction to psychology class is more valuable than business or technical skills at Cisco. As you climb the ladder at Cisco, the amount of undiagnosed mental illness is rather fascinating.

Spot on. The name of the Cisco game is pass the buck down the line. The minute you get signed up as "the" contact for anything remotely defined as a deliverable, you then become "the" target for a flock of mostly worthless buzzards to pick over your carcass until you are LR'd for not doing the job right.

Get rid of most of the lot of anyone above a Manager, and the company would be much better.

Exactly my experience. Then it’s passed back up the chain, but only after backdelegating it couple of times. When it’s back on VP level, you’ll get the sh-t for doing it wrong

Apple have three levels of management. No employee is more than three levels of reporting from Tim Cook. At Cisco you can be ten levels away from Chuck. Ridiculous.
