There are no jobs in the market. For every position there are 150 applicants. No interviews so far.

I guess when you're still in Michigan, that is all you can do really.

Lots of recruiters, and then silence, like you experienced. I have had ~ 10 interviews with companies past the recruiter screen step. They start virtual then lead to on site. Waiting for one to result in actual offer. I’m amazed at the degree of ghosting from the recruiters. I ask them all to follow-up with a yes/no if anything is going to progress, but very few actually do. I guess this is job hunting in the 2020s!

We are in/ at the tip of a global recession. Rising interest rates have slowed the velocity of money. Housing market is stagnant which took out corporations like Bed Bath and Beyond; more to come. This is what the federal reserve wants. The amount of money issued during the pandemic increased the M1 money supply substantially (5x). This is no different than what the Weimar Republic did post WW1. I’ll let history speak for itself. Be prepared, become self reliant, and when the sh-t hits the fan, be prepared to get out(aka reverse immigration).
You have been able to get "some" interviews? With the actual hiring company/management or just the recruiter? I have recruiters calling
constantly telling me my resume is great, and then silence. A lot of places
are just fishing.

It seems there is only one requirement at Ford for any new position: employee must live in an LCC and accept a subpar compensation. It seems also the "leadership" positions are exempt from this requirement.
Our corporation is seeking electrical engineers, designers, and systems people. I am routinely asked if I know anyone. Due to lack of people with pulses, we've had to reduce the expectations and qualifications.
They jobs are there if you fit certain requirements.
This is what so many people don’t realize or refuse to admit. I have been able to get some interviews, but no offers yet. I also see dozens or hundreds of applicants for jobs.
