Before calling out posts as nonsense google "CECL" and "2021 Changes" and you will understand why it matters.

How many times do you people post this nonsense? Do you not read?

Are the same spammer that posted it last time, it's like eight posts down or so.

These are UNREALIZED losses on BONDS that are HELD TO MATURITY.

You put your money in a CD. Do you consider the early withdrawal penalty to be an unrealized loss?

You buy a federal bond for 36 months. It drops in value because it's paying 3% vs a savings account paying 5%. Are you going to sell the bond or just hold it and get paid the face value + yields and not take any loss?

Goodness.

not really. word is already whispered to the street. it's built into the overall earnings forecast. Stock may take a small hit for a day or so, but otherwise, yawn. They will make up for it with creative accounting (deposits up with failure of SVB, First Republic "flight to quality" blah blah blah, and spin it as "overall strength in our broad portfolio of businesses, fortress balance sheet, etc. blah blah blah"

While not pleasant, hardly a big hit for a $3 TRILLION company.

Put it in perspective. That said, they will use the excuse to not give us any raises at year end, even though we had nothing to do with the loss.
