Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Sept 25 4th round of mass layoffs??

I hear that we will have 4th round of layoffs around Sept 25. Is this correct?
Within the portfolio, Cloud Platform (Model E), there are many services, connected products, and platforms that are getting decommissioned.

LLs are collecting data on % usage of each product and service. Seems many products and connected services would be decommissioned.

—- " LL's asked us to send an email each week on last week's accomplishment. “

We too had auditors (kids) with clipboards asking why we weren’t working every second. Needless to say our managers hid. It’s inevitable this is going to happen.

I'm 55+, have 25+ years of service, not a DEI candidate (i.e., SWM) and definitely not F&F. I'm wondering how I've managed to survive all the cuts. Should I expect September 25th to be it for me?

Since the Auto Show is from September 16 through the 24th, it makes sense that the Company wants to wait until the 25th. They want to make sure they show off the latest and greatest before bringing the axe down.

LL's asked us to send an email each week on last week's accomplishment. I think it is coming. I think this is stupid as management is chaotic and insane. We get work straightly from LL's, how come we need to tell LL's back what we have been doing?

“…back in the 90s, the company that sold the cell phone got a piece of the customer’s subscription fee.”

What? People don’t believe that this happened? Or is it that they don’t LIKE that it happened?

But it did. It’s history. Big Boy restaurants were selling “bag phones” because they made money on the customer’s monthly fee.

The point is, Ford thought they could make huge profits on subscriptions and it didn’t work back then because they didn’t add value. Why would you pay for a subscription to something that is built into your car if you can get the same thing on your phone and take it with you in ANY car you drive?

When your company hires an auditing firm to follow employees around for months and constantly ask what their job is and what they are doing next or what the hold up is. And your management plays it off. You can pretty much guarantee your department will be cut back. Except for the management.

I should explain that back in the 90s, the company that sold the cell phone got a piece of the customer’s subscription fee.

In the early 90s, when cell phones were just beginning to become popular, Ford thought they were going to make a ki-ling selling built-in cell phones. They had charts showing their profits heading off into the stratosphere in the coming years. I was in a meeting where one of the sales guys pulled out a cell phone from his pocket to answer a call. Right then I realized the whole plan was a bust. Who would want a cell phone built in to their car, I thought. Everyone will want to carry them around with them. I suggested to management that we instead build systems into the vehicles to connect portable cell phones to. But what did I know, being just a kid in my 20s.

The subscription % numbers, the ones where customers actually pay and not including free trials, are in single digits. And closer to 1% than 9%.

The lie of subscription revenue is becoming a reality that can no longer be ignored. And it will cost a lot of people their jobs.

If LLs are collecting data on % usage of each product and service, this could explain why the CEO of canopy is desperately seeking “beta testers.”
