Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

401k investment allocations

What funds are you investing in for your Bank 401k? I don't feel like we have a lot of options but want to get an idea of what the best allocation is for huge growth in order to retire in 15-20 years. 401k balance is slightly over 500k now. I feel like I need to get to 2M+/- to retire between 55-60.

Right now, Dodge and Cox stock fund and T Rowe large cap growth trust are my top 2 holdings.

What are you allocating your 401k contributions to?
How is your 401k performing?

Not the best investment choices. Almost all other firms have better options.

First, you need to view it in terms of ALL your holdings across ALL account.

For 10-20 yrs out, among BokA 401k choices:
100% Vanguard S&P 500
0% BAC Stock (seriously, dump that dog. Too volatile. Never there when you need it. If you get RSUs, sell upon vesting. Working here is more than enough exposure. Done this for 25+ yrs, invested the proceeds into VTSAX, has paid off handsomely for MUCH less risk)

FEES MATTER. Focus on the lowest expense funds within the choices.

D&C has missed several years in a row now. Not what it used to be. Too bad.

As you get within 10 yrs in, begin moving some towards Total Bond. (I know, I know. Snore, But that's waht they're there for)

For 3-5 years out: Start moving half toward Stable Value.

Not high octane, but you will be glad you dd. Sleep well!

I don't trust Merrill. Have seen their comp structure. They are paid salesmen. Do your own homework. It's not rocket science.

I use the Personal Investment Manager and keep less than 10% in BAC stock. Quarterly rebalancing and overall it’s done fine.
