Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike rehire policy

Is there a wait period before a terminated employee can join Nike back? I see an opening that I am interested in. Unfortunately we (both me and my spouse) were laid off in the Nike donation fiasco. We were unknowingly caught in this mess. It’s been almost an year now

"Caught up in the Donation Fiasco" yeah you're 100% flagged as not eligible for rehire. Your employee record is linked to your social btw so even if you apply with new phone number/personal email the flag will most likely still flag. Plus this new HR transformation seems pretty intense with the d-mb a-s emails if you so much as forget to attach a receipt to a transaction. I wouldn't try and also, why bother...???

That doesn't sound like you were 'laid off' it sounds like you got fired.

I was let go in the 2021 reorg. I have applied for three Nike jobs since. With each application submitted I received an email within 60 seconds telling me “Thanks for applying, we are not considering you for this position.” I’m guessing I was flagged for some reason. Apply and if you quickly get a rejection email you’ll know that you’ll likely never work at Nike again.

Depends on the circumstances, I'd suggest apply and see where it takes you. If you get the job, it wasn't a problem. If you didn't it could mean someone else was better or because of your incident.

I don't think Nike will tell you directly that you're unable to rehired, so its all just chance. I knew some folks who were let go or laid off, most were able to come back.

A better question would be, why would you want to go back to a company that has already told you “We don’t think you’re valuable enough to keep around.” That’s like a partner breaking up with you, and you begging and pleading to be taken back. Once someone says “I don’t want you in my life” take the hint and move on.

I know of someone who was fired with cause (a very good cause that was well documented), and then hired by a different team within a year.

Just do it.

Worst that happens is they say “no”.

I have seen few come back not sure how. But it’s very hard to know if your profile is flagged. Did the recruiter say anything ?

Go become a white badge. That’s what I’m doing.

Some people are categorized as "Not eligible for rehire".

The wait period is one year. But I’m gonna be honest here. Once Nike decides it’s done with you, for any reason, it’s usually done with you for good. And if you got let go for the reason you mentioned I’d be shocked if Nike rehired you.
