Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

All principal, distinguished engineers , pls quit Cisco for frequent LRs

I am principal engineer and my boss calls me backbone of Cisco but recent LRs were not fruitful. Cisco laid few of the finest people and couldn’t do anything. I have lost morale and decided to quit Cisco in support of my friends who got affected.

They've transformed the company from a Silicon Valley US co. to an Indian co.

It's a shame they took kids out of school and had US engineers train them instead of hiring the companies that can perform at CMMI Level 5. As both customer then employee in the late 1990s I can say before Cisco could offshore a significant amount of work the quality was still extremely poor. Technically much of Cisco is at Level 0.

I read here many times that Cisco principal and distinguished engineers can only draw diagrams in power point. Is that true?

I haven't even seen that done right. In my experience Cisco's technical leadership is incompetent at a level I've never seen anywhere else, and at least some of the people did not arrive at Cisco in that condition. It's more than bad management as I've seen that everywhere else.

Cisco has been doing this for 15 years. At least this was a public layoff. Wait until you have no one show up to a meeting because the team was eliminated without an announcement.

How do you explain that to recruiters? The stealth layoffs make it look like employees got PIPd
