In the HR communication call, they handled out guidelines how messaging to employees would be handled. One of the funny things is that they would not put furlough wordings in their out of office replies. The hypocrisy is at a different level each day for Honeywell hr and management . But again, I have been here long enough to know the management of this company has no bottom in their conscience and no clue in how to run a business except for screwing everyone else (suppliers, customers, employees) to fatten their own pockets. Utterly shameless!

4qsw+1nGsCMK1, if you're talking about working while on furlough and getting fired then ,no, you have no recourse. We all have to sign that we know we can't work.
If you're talking about just not showing up and saying you were on a furlough and getting fired what recourse do you think you'd have? You were AWOL. But it would be fun to watch how that would play out....
Why not leave Honeywell for another company that is stable, where pay and benefits are competitve, and you don't have to worry about unpaid furloughs and layoffs? You could be clicking your heels all the way to the bank right now.
If you said you were on a furlough, and then got fired for it, could you sue for retaliation?
Many H1B and temps are willing to live in bunkhouse conditions, emboldening the management.
I’ve seen a lot of people calling it “vacation.” Not just at the management level but also lower level roles. A lot of roles have just been replaced by subservient drones who don’t dare make any noise.
Yea, just say that you are out of office for the week. Don't say vacation or anything like that. Let those that depend on you figure it out for themselves. Particularly if your previous vacation messages mentioned vacation.
Not using the F word has been standard practice for years. Management strategy is to deflect any possible immediate criticism from customers or suppliers who need you.
I verbally tell customers that I will be serving a furlough. In fact I will call them and tell them the week before. Never had any repercussions.
Don’t bother saying the word “furlough” in your out of office messages … IT will go through and edit them for you.

No package when you get fired, I’d rethink that
We need to start stating we're on furloughs in the OOO messages. We're allowed to discuss wages now so what can they do? Worst case, you get a package and click your heels all the way to the bank and find a new job.
