Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wrong people are being promoted

There are a lot of factors that facilitate WFC’s current less-than-stellar standing and results, but I believe that one of the main ones is the fact that people are being promoted for all the wrong reasons. I believe nothing will improve until WFC goes back to making hiring decisions that are based on merit or skill exclusively. Everything else will follow.

No chance of that any time soon...take a look at KK's org in COO....she makes a town hall comment accusing white mortgage underwriters of racism with no facts, then one of her DRs promotes an Indian man and Chinese woman to Director positions they're totally unqualified for.

Anti-white man racism and s-xism are alive and well....WFC is becoming the poster-child for what structural racism really looks like.

It's funny how most leaders coming in from Chase, who never was on top of community banking think they now have all the answers. Tech, credit card, investment banking, okay that who you were. They were never a player in community banking. And now all of a sudden they got all the answers. Chase went on a run for more branches recently, only because they knew Wells Fargo who was the biggest and strongest franchise is entagled in controversy. Smart move in short term, however these leaders that think they are the sh*t, no, no you aren't. You think you are and if you keep brining your buddies, we need the 99% left to ruin your party by being candid, calling out BS that isn't working, and make your life as hard as possible so you learn.

In my experience the last few years managers wanting to promote someone had to put together a lot of documentation and then go to battle with other managers to level set and finalize. All part of the yearly review process.

…”goes back to making hiring decisions that are based on merit or skill exclusively.”

When has any large company, in any industry, ever truly achieved this standard in history? Nepotism in hiring practices is as old as the concept of hiring itself.

All the promotions in my marketing group for the last few years have been clones of the bumbling, beer swilling, straight white good old boy who runs it, so yeah.

Irony is WF does not have an environment where the "right people" could make a difference.

Fix the culture first. This requires a painful gutting and probable revenue hit. It will take money to fix 2+ decades of nonsense.

Please leave tech control out of this. The people (majority race, female, blonde hair) especially recent elevations , have been chosen for their diversity and not in breach of any corporate policy. Our policies fully support and encourage this selection. We have no objections either.

The real whiner is the buffoon who has nothing better to do with his brain than respond to one post over and over again.

It's just like the federal government! If your skin color or se-ual orientation fits their criteria, you're hired! I saw all kinds of ID--TS being promoted and getting roles just because they could interview well or were buddy buddies with the hiring manager. It's a cult! Leave!

I asked questions directly to managers that cannot respond and rely on their ‘staff’ to answer the question.
How did some managers rise so high and not even know their area?

So true! I saw people being promoted for years based on a buddy system, it is all about who ya know and who likes you, that is it. He,she who su-ks the most dik wins. Be more of a cok su---r and you will have a career there!!

It's hilarious how OP always fakes "shares" for this nonsense. Like people are tripping over themselves to spread his platitudes.

Wait. You mean promoting based on results rather than skin color, s-x, a virtue signaling lanyard or some other factor beyond a dei lense would be helpful?

Agree with you OP.......along with the sign of of the times, the greed at the top has no bearing to those of us working our a$$ off daily work to keep the bank going--in tech, ops, etc.
