Disgruntled employees react

For the employees affected, it makes little difference whether this is a fresh round of layoffs or one announced previously: they’re still losing their jobs.

A Cisco employee in Bangalore told Computerworld that colleagues there had been laid off.

“There were certain employees laid off and there are speculations of more as well. As of what we are aware, these will be across the different business units and will include engineers, and security engineers,” the employee said, requesting anonymity.

The employee said that the layoffs began globally with several high-level directors being awarded the pink slip.

“We are not really aware if the layoffs are part of the fresh round or those announced earlier. For an employee, it is a plain layoff, a loss of employment and income. With the current job market scenario and the layoff there is a sense of scare and panic among employees,” the employee said, adding that the reason being given for the layoffs is a restructuring plan.

TAC is not so great now because the resources TAC needs to take care of the customer are not very good.

BU would rather roll around in hot coals than to actually assist a TAC engineer with a defect. Oh, the defects. Yes, the software bugs... It's amazing how bad Cisco software is.

...basically a warm body. He continues the tradition at Cisco as Ceo.

A warm body that added over $80B in market cap over eight years.

Everyone there knows about the bad management and the fact that Cisco has had fairly continuous layoffs for 22 years and yet nearly 80,000 people still work there. What does this say about them?

Actually, Chuckles does not hang on the golf course. He’s very un- athletic even as a JV basketball player in college getting smoked by Jordan- basically a warm body. He continues the tradition at Cisco as Ceo.

Ridiculous that Cisco Board does nothing
CEO moved to Atlanta away from HQ, works part time from his mansion on golf course, plays golf 3 days a week

Technically it's a continuation of the 2001 layoffs. In the words of Cisco's own leaders annual layoffs demonstrate failed leadership and leadership has been in a continuous state of failure for that entire time.

Customers used to look beyond product shortcomings because TAC made up for it. Customers haven’t been able to rely on that in years.

This is where people inside Cisco need to wake up to managements BS. The new CFO is horrible and talks out of both sides of his mouth. He's the worst on the company check-ins.

These new layoffs aren't new; they were announced in November. Why not say they were part of layoffs in 2012 when he wasn't there? Oh, he's stepping up and taking responsibility with his word salad. The PR is so bad that they allow execs to say such stupid things. Oh, this isn't new; it's part of last year's announcements. Those impacted now should feel better.

I feel so bad for the people impacted. Cisco's trying to cut its way to prosperity and that never works. The reason they are having layoffs is because customers see less value in products and services. Product quality is so bad we keep hearing it from customers. The CX team keeps cutting skilled people and then the Services are so bad customers don't renew at the same levels. They don't renew at the same level, so Cisco cuts more skilled people and blames it on the customer for not buying more of what they weren't getting from their last contract. Downward spiral, circling the drain.

This is the fault of the Services leadership. They're a mess and customers know they aren't getting value. The next few years aren't going to be kind to CX as Cisco keeps providing less and less value but charging the same or more. They make up for it though at Cisco Live The SVP said "we've got your back". Why do you have to say that? Why not just show them through excellent work, value, and getting things done., deliver what the customer bought. Instead, he needs words to convince because the work and leadership can't get it done anymore.

This round of layoffs impacted TAC also. TAC's already a mess and it has been for years when they got pushed out the guy who built it and ran the best and most profitable segment of Cisco. Now, all they've done is ruin it by gutting its success, get rid of great people performing the work, then try and sell it to customers at an increased price because the SVP says "We've got your back". He does have their back as he's sticking it to them with a higher price and far less effective services.
