Stankey still having a job is one of life’s great mysteries. It’s up there with the Bermuda Triangle and Big Foot.

The roadmap for the company is nearly complete, and that is a full divestiture of many of the business units and segments. There is no reason to let JS go now simply because there is no executive that would take over at this point knowing there will be smoldering rubble left.
The cost cutting needed to save T is actively happening. What’s the mystery?
The mystery is the fact the Randell (270K a month plus a cool million in consulting fees) and John ( 24 million) are receiving money from AT&T when it has been demonstrated and proven beyond any doubt that they and they alone are responsible for the debt that AT&T currently has. That is what is mysterious.
If the John and Randell money spigot was turned off tomorrow, the morale of this company would climb to a level not seen in 15 years. Employees would move from survivor mode to let's get it done mode.
He’s creepy
Keep on whining. It's gonna come to you. Soon.
Regarding: “Why is Stankey even CEO? He has never climbed a telephone pole.”
It’s not that he’s never climbed a telephone pole. It’s that he tells people he knows that that they’re doing it wrong and he could do it better, faster and more boldly to win as one. With expertise, simplicity and inspiration. And a $23M salary. And 6 corporate jets to collaborate with stewardesses.
It is a mystery how Stankey gets the internet to work? How does light going through fiber show up as pictures and movies on my computer? Crazy.
Maybe you should ask him
Why is Stankey even CEO? He has never climbed a telephone pole.
That's debatable, nobody is certain of his gender equality. We only know he likes to promote gender equality.
I don't know why you folks seem to think there is some conspiracy or reason why they are running the place into the ground. It's just as simple as the BoD and Stankey are all smooth brain, greedy dummies.

I can (quickly) solve that “mystery”. He is intentionally running this place into the ground, and the BoD is totally complicit. The reasons may vary, although I have my suspicions. Regardless; the only way this makes “sense” is that it’s ‘by design’.
