Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

New job interviews

For those that can’t hang around long enough for severance or have a good job opportunity, are you bringing to light the current move to Dallas situation in your interviews? Maybe the new company will provide a sign-on bonus? Or are you thankful that you’re getting out and not asking for more other than current salary

I wouldn't mention it. It puts you in a position of needing another job instead of just exploring other exciting opportunities for growth. They will adjust their offer accordingly if you do.

Tell them that you started looking because AT&T is going through some turbulence including layoffs and relocating a lot of people and you need to protect yourself but emphasize that you are really excited about the job you are interviewing for. Give them what they need to know but don’t dwell on it and don’t sound like you are complaining, just that you need to cover yourself and don’t want to be caught without a job.

“mentioning the forced relocation as the reason one is looking for a new opportunity”
There haven’t been any forced relocations.

Do not mention that you won't relocate. Shoe that you're open to go wherever the new company needs you.

This person obsessed with Costco. it's obviously a projection. You do costco runs, therefore you think we all do. And you know what? I don't GAF if you do. If anything, that helps alleviate all the foot traffic during the busy times. So I think it's great you do costco runs during the day and work in the evenings to make it up, as we all should.

During the interview, I would mention that I have the ability to work independently and practice exceptional skills to multi-task. As an accomplishment, perform Costco shopping runs and send out outlook meeting invites while loading up the costco shopping cart during work hours.

I doubt very much that any new company would feel so empathetic for any of our struggles with T's incompetence that they'd offer a signing bonus out of the generosity of their heart. I mean, they are businesses.

That said, mentioning the forced relocation as the reason one is looking for a new opportunity is absolutely valid. So long as one doesn't then start offering editorial opinions regarding T, Stink, etc.
