Such irony since it is the younger group that is demanding flexible work environments and pushing the "working remotely is more conducive to my productivity, and I will bounce to another job that lets me work when and where on my own terms."

So when you do it, it's promoting mutual benefit for company and employer, but when we do it, it's work avoidance, being lazy, and being coddled? To use one of GenZ/Millenials' favorite buzzwords, that's straight-up gaslighting.

Millennial here.

You know, as someone who doesn’t get offended very often, I sure do get offended by a--holes like you acting like remote work is lazy. I’m a mom of a toddler and a newborn - I don’t have a wife at home cooking me dinner and taking care of the kids when they get out of daycare. I am that person. And remote work made it possible to be both a good mom and a good employee that worked a couple hours at night to make up for signing off work at 4 everyday. But now with RTO and a 1.5 hour commute each way, I see my kids and husband a LOT less and am too exhausted to even cook most of the time now. Remote work showed us how work-life balance COULD AND made us more productive. The whole ~wOmEn iN sTeM~ movement is a crock of sh-t if we’re going to be regressive like this and RTO will likely end in me quitting the work force because my family is more important to me than getting home at 6 pm.

I am assuming that the OP is talking about those that WFH. Amazing how when they were trying to figure out arrangements for this who were FTO during the pandemic, there were those of us who never missed a beat.

Was a TW for 24/26 years, went into office first 4 years then was VP approved as a permanent virtual worker because I had to travel regularly. Was only 30 minutes to an office and went in periodically even though it was entirely optional. THEN, coffid 19 hit and all the workers got to WFH. THEN in 2023 the RTO hit and I was to report 1-3 times a month to office. BFD - started doing it and THEN the 9 city hub bull$4it started THEN I was surp'd.

I have no pity, no remorse, no ragrets (not even one) about being a virtual worker then being laid off. I'm not complaining about the WFH folks who got the freedom of doing whatever TF they want, all while still being productive. Nonetheless, feeling entitled after the fact but that's human nature, we take things for granted and get complacent. Seriously, nobody wants to commute especially in those 9 cities lol.

I'm certain I was surp'd due to my title, salary, TW, wasn't very close to a hub, 53, white, male, straight, vax accommodation. One of those and/or all of the above. Here I am searching for my next career trying to move on. The trolls here are just that, trolls. Plan and take care of your family. I too was recipient of many key contributor bonuses, promoted, this that, out-performed others, doesn't matter.

If you want longevity there, become a GM. Hopefully if you're going to be out of work awhile you have the funds to get by. If you're ready to retire you should get TF out and move on, so others don't get surp'd for your greediness su-king like a leach. RETIRE.

Hey Boomer. I am at work. I have been at work for over seventeen years - the last eight of them fully remote.

I am a consistently top performer with multiple patents, connect awards, and company-level recognitions in my name. And I'm soon to be out of a job because my organization has decided to mandate a self-financed move to Dallas. Who the f are you?

I am at work. That isn't the problem here. And you know it.

Omg shut up dude. I’m not going BACK to work. I work just as hard from my home office collaborating over teams than I do in a physical office. My productivity will decrease in an office. It’s 2023 not 1987.

Remote work made it easy to see who the real contributors were. Going back to work seems like a way for the Boomers to hide that they either didn't know how to do the work or were too lazy to do the work.
