Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Predictions?

Anyone have predictions for what's gonna happen soon?
Re-org announcements are coming. More cuts necessary.

I disagree with your assessment that no one is talking about fiber. Maybe not uninformed investors but I work in the field, nearly everyday for over 10 years I’m being asked by customers, begging over and over saying, when is AT&T fiber coming to my neighborhood or business? There is pent up demand, so right now there is huge growth opportunities in broadband, only 30+% of AT&T’s area has fiber coverage, think about that. That’s with competitors already in their neighborhoods like spectrum, comcast and any other flavor.

We already know that soon as fiber is brought on-line in a neighborhood or business area, there is a minimum of 30-40% who become customers instantly. It opens the door to guess what? Mobility if they aren’t already our customers and any other add-on products, like business fiber, VoIP, ASE circuits, etc…

The buildout cost will go down and the capital outlay will be paid for in a matter of years. It takes time to build a new transport infrastructure due to limited capex, local authorities, environmental issues, terrain, etc.. There is all kind of new tech on the horizon to drive demand for higher speeds and there are products in the near future that will need more speed and capacity. Higher prices and revenue will follow because fiber has infinite speeds, only the equipment limits it and it is upgraded constantly like any other tech. It will take a while but there is hope!

Stankey doesn't get it!! ....now that Stankey and team have saddled AT&T with 100M+ in debt, we are doubling down on fiber and Mobility (5G). It costs over $1,000 to get fiber to a person's home for which they pay ~50 bucks a month...so in addition to the Billions in capital outlay, this isn't a great business to be in ....it's a commodity business. When was the last time you heard anyone talk about their fiber????? Noone does...

Mobility is also a me-too product...and aT&T is in third place in a lot of industry comparisons ........Again John, it's a commodity business....so after billions spent on failed acquisitions ... we are left with 2 commodity businesses....the only way to survuve in a commodity is to reduce costs and a monkey or chatgpt can do that for you...

There is a leadership vacuum at AT&T sadly...and we seem to be sailing toward the iceberg....

Revenue did not beat expectations. How will Stinkey increase revenue? He'll look in his UCLA MBA handbook and pull off the unexpected and cut expenses. Cutting expenses reduces future/new Revenue projects and when future financials are released, he'll give another lame excuse like it's the customers fault for not paying their bills on time and for claiming they are inflated.

I predict 100% that Stankey and company will make another bad business decision soon.
Pretty safe bet.

They will tell everyone business attire is mandatory in the office... and bring back "Blue Jean Day".. where you'll have to pay to wear them - and hang proof of purchase on the cubicle.

More of the same for the foreseeable future. Irrational layoffs, no new products and services, no money to buy the spectrum we really need, shrinking cash flow, eroding margins and leadership continues to cash their checks while laughing at the BOD all the way to the bank….that about sums it up.

The fiber to the business and premise development projects are finished. AT&T needs fewer to monitor the network and craft will be converted to installation for the most part. No need to spend on copper plant or maintenance of the majority of outside equipment cabinets. India will work layer 3 and above. Less jobs for technical manager positions. Projected management reduction of over 15,000 in 2023.

Just going to guess, more span of control edicts from 10 to 12, but only impacting L2 and L3’s in certain BUs. More surprise surpluses if they don’t get the numbers they want from the forced relo’s. Though I’m hearing they are going to get way more than they bargained for with the forced relo numbers. More beatings for the RTO crowd. More outsourcing and cuts for the field guys. More cooked books. 0 budgets for the teams that are in dire need of funding. More gaslighting talking about how they value the customers and about how employees are our most valuable asset.

They will put in a bid to buy Verizon and will lose billions in break-up fees for failing to carry through. Stinky will claim there was a lot of synergy in the offer and doesn't understand why everyone was against it.

Thank goodness for another .25 basis points in interest rates. Maybe that will postpone future layoffs.

More negativity from leadership to make people leave the company, a lot of layoffs ahead, reorgs will happen as leaders leave the company, just the nature of the business.
