Mike Gallagher, R-Wisconsin, and Rep. Jason Smith, R-Missouri, who chairs the powerful Ways and Means Committee, announced they were investigating the deal, asking for copies of the licensing agreement and communications between Ford and CATL, as well as communications between Ford and the Biden administration. Congressional Republicans have expressed concerns that CATL will benefit from tax credits indirectly through Ford.
