Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Where was the outrage when the 2020 cuts happened?

Where was all of this outrage in 2020 when a couple hundred employees were cut? It was the same poor management and the same poor decision making. When people got let go in 2020 it was “well, that’s just part of the business” or “that’s what happens when you work for fiber”. Now that you are losing sleep it’s a problem? It’s been a problem, you just chose to ignore it.

Anyone working at CC should not be surprised. The layoffs were going to happen. There's too much bloat, coupled with bad management across ALL levels. There is more uproar since this time around the bread and butter of CC is being affected, Towers.

It affected my department last time, so I cared. It was also a much smaller number that was being laid off.

The difference between this time and last is we didn’t have a heads up. They proceeded with layoffs and then we were told.

Because it's the golden childs in towers that are getting the axe this time.

I didn't even know about it, until right now.

@OP, exactly! Nobody cares when we cut the 5% in 2020. Why should anybody care about the 15% now.

That’s very fair to say. Let’s be honest people who keep a job and keep their mouth shut after a layoff is easy to understand. I believe with this layoff it’s the volume that increases the outpouring of thought and opinion. Crown needs a reckoning, the EMT needs to be held accountable for the loss of company value over the past year, managers need to be held accountable to the pay check collecting empty suits that they are. Individual contributors need to be held accountable and not act like they are privileged. There is a great divide between the customer facing crown employee and the ones who do not face the customer. My final thought as I am a simple soon to be laid off employee what company of approximately 5000 people needs 63 vice presidents? Curious if any of those privileged id--ts lose their jobs?

Any way as a CX services director recently said “the sun will come up tomorrow and we all need to love each other.” Real awkward to listen too but his heart was in the right place.

Telecom you can kiss my a-s, I am a bit relieved at the thought of getting out of the stupidity that is telecommunications. There is no good client and every gc is expected to do sh-t for free and have it done yesterday.

So su-k it TMO, VZW, AT&T, Sprint and the rest of you also rans.
