At best that is a net number, ie 100 people let go, 20 hires = net change of 80. Agree that the net number should go down and be lower than it is, but incorrect based on the calculation to say that only 9700 people were let go.
@1kiz+1nOfKbpQ, yes, expect the count to reach about 110K before they stop cutting. Unfortunately, when they run out of projects to cut, they'll have to fall back to performance-based layoffs and/or use a "peanut butter" method (i.e., spread it around somewhat evenly), which is always a huge mess.
R&D + MG&A is down ~$1.5B in Q1+Q2 2023 over same in 2022, so ~10K more to go this year for $3B 2023 savings.
While a drop in the ocean, 68 people handed in their notice in Leixlip last week alone. Morale is on the floor and everyone is leaving.
Get used to it. On track for 3B savings this year, and 8-10B by 2025. It will only escalate from here.
This doesn't include all of the GB contractors we've let go and the number of projects we've cancelled so the number of impacted people is much higher of course.
USA.. about 7000 so far
Do that include ppl that will will be given pkg on Aug 31? There are bunch of them
