I go in and put myself in a meeting and walk around half the day and do nothing cause there are no team members near me.
Years ago with assigned seating we knew where everyone was and could wait for people.
Now no one knows where anyone is and I have been able to not actually do any work every day I am in the office.
I love it
Just playing management's game against them and with our overseas teams I just push any work off to them at night and next day when I get it back it has to all be redone and pushes our dates out more and more..

F RTO. I refuse to go in. None of my team goes nor does our worthless manager. I also refuse to use telephony and have my calls monitored. I just place myself in a meeting too and enjoy my time at home.
Dont worry, the planned recession will hit and then everyone will be required to go in 5 days a week where you can do nothing for more days of the week.
It being pointless IS the point. If there was a point it wouldn't effectively tank morale and get people to quit.
Nailed IT! All management cares about is our time and how many days we go into the office and not so much about our skills anymore. They care more about filling up our real-estate than actually getting any real work done.

We are supposed to collaborate in the office so that tells me they want us to chat with our co-workers. They don’t have any way to monitor that when you are in the office so they can’t tell if you are just walking around or actually having discussions. I don’t even know anyone here or what they do. Totally pointless being here.
So op is saying things aren't any different than working from home? Look, you can goof off no matter where you work. There are several things about RTO that su-k-- like no assigned seating. But at the end of the day, many people are evaluated on what they get completed. You don't get stuff done, you're not going to be around long.
Can’t say i love RTO, but i don’t mind it as much as i thought. Been going 3x week for a few months now. The worst part is getting up so early to commute in. I take public transportation so i can nap or read or whatever on the commute, so that helps. If i had to drive and deal with the traffic then i’d likely hate it.

I get the reason RTO is d-mb but it’s not the end of the world people. The more you fight, the worse it will get. 3 days is easy. Besides, it’s like a Middle East vacation for free with all the Indians in office now.
I love rto, and I am being quite honest.
It’s all a joke, just do what you gotta do to keep your paycheck and who cares about the rest.
I feel the same way about Teams. It doesn’t work very well, it’s not reliable as an indicator of whether someone is actively using their laptop or not. IMs are delivered hours after they are sent some days. I thought I’d miss Skype but Teams might be better for staying under the radar. RTO + Teams = who knows where anyone is or what they are doing 😀
