Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If Ford moves towards hybrids (copying Toyota) then Dougie is screwed

Doug Field famously bashes anything other than full BEV. So moving towards hybrids could be his swansong. And good riddance.

Sadly, Ford's hybrids have been atrocious.

Toyota figured out that Farley was not a competent marketing guy. Why did we hire him especially since we benchmark Toyota all the time?

@rhv I don’t think anyone ever accused Farley of being a good marketing guy. Ford has been losing market share since he arrived in 2009.

Farley being a marketing guy should have had enough sense that you can’t push product down people’s throat. They have the power of choice on how they want to spend their money. Just because it would help our cafe doesn’t mean people will buy it.

This is a clear sign of BAD MANAGMENT since the furniture guy Hackett (aka ART VAN) came along. The senior management have known for sometime that EVs were something that would gradually grow into the NA market not turn on like a switch.
Instead Top management ignored their own internal studies. Hybrids are a good option to fill the GAP until

  1. Battery Technology improves
  2. Range and customer usage addressed
  3. Infrastructure updated.
  4. Cost

Also want to add to point #2. There are people at the top who have said that TRALIER TOW is overrated and over hyped. I can tell you those people are A-HOLES. Should be fired.
First a pick-up truck is a utility vehicle not some luxury sedan they try to make it into.
Pretty sad to see numerous YOU TUBE videos on average every day people that really need a pick up truck have to stop every 75miles to charge their battery because some id--t at the top does not understand the customer that buy these vehicles.
I hope the Wall Street investors open their eyes to the damage that Bill Ford and his management teams have done the past six years.
Sorry to vent but Bill is not Henry.. More Like a Paris Hilton.. Has the last name not the accomplishments
Farley.. A pure BOBBLEHEAD. Self proclaimed car guy. Yeah that sure has benefited the company.. Lost market share, left certain car segments.. But he said he was a car guy!!!!
Should have seen this coming...
Doug Fields.. All I can say is read his bio. Never stayed at any job for more than five years. in fact 2-3 years is more like the norm.

To bad the WS analyst do not see through this smoking mirrors..
This constant change of direction by the top .. ki-ls what's left of the morale..

4 or so years ago Ford planning had a big hybrid plan. Then poof bunny slippers came along and blew that out of the water. Now Hybrids are back after billions wasted on BEVs and good ICE TS’s and engineers thrown to the curb. Fire Farley and his BFB DF and Billy needs to find another hobby before he ruins the company. Which at this point Fomoco is in trouble. All they had to do is follow Toyota’s example.

If you live in a country that doesn't have a huge military, no fossil fuels and is pretty much dependent on a low conflict energy source you do this. The real rub here is this fuel cannot be financialized like the old fuel. It requires no mining or big loans to dig it out of the ground and ship it half way round the world. The banks can't hop onto this to pay off yesterday's promises... Economics vs physics. Physics always wins - just takes time.
