Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is September 26th the next axe date?

If it is, I really need to get to interviewing.

I have a newborn on the way and don't want to be unable to provide for my family because I get thrown under the bus in 2 months.

I have been so stressed every quarter, worrying if I am next

FYI: You need to be at GM for 1 year before you’re eligible for parental leave. I looked into it when all the layoffs started because I had similar concerns about a newborn.

Unfortunately the best plan may be to stick with Ford until you get through your parental leave.

There is not going to be a 'next' layoff date. The last town hall was nothing but motivational. You all must have missed the point. We are on the road to recovery. Get on board or get out of the way!

You bring up a huge issue, OP. No one feels safe even if they make it through a lay off, we are always wondering "Will I be a part of the next one in a few months?"

It's a cr-ppy way to work and only serves to demoralize employees further to where they just do the basics, and Ford's ability to recruit slides in favor of those companies who offer a better culture

For a company that talks so much about how we should bring our entire self to work and have empathy for each other, they certainly don't practice what they preach. I would love to see the mental health or medical claims for the last 5 years. I suspect there has been an increase in those receiving treatment for anxiety and depression - all created by the actions of this ruthless company. Shame on them.

It never hurts to have/ keep your resume update-to-date. Refresh it with your Ford work and get it ready. You may even want to put it out there to see what your get. If you are there past September, good for you. If not, you will have a head start. Best of luck to you and your new baby.

Yeah I head the next round was planned for last week of September from an LL4 whom was fired end of June. He said end of each every quarter there will be firings going forward until 2024. 85% of salary will be fired in USA 🇺🇸 only 15% will remain in 2025 all other jobs moved off shore to Mexico, India, South America. Sad.

They (Ford) want to embrace hybrids right? I am guessing they might want to still cut a few people just to cover up for the big losses. The ones who stay probably get over loaded with work... my thoughts.. so speculation as of now..

Rumors here on this site say that it has been moved up to August. No idea if that is true.
