Was told today there’s no layoffs for Fiber sellers but it kinda sounds like a lie just to get sellers to perform their best

They said during earnings that they were focused on wireless and fiber, and that they were going to start shutting down "legacy" products, whereupon, tip and ring came to mind.

Today is the key word. Who knows about tomorrow or the next day. Nobody is safe.
Head Count is way too high for SM's and SE's. There is no point to pay people to keep flipping POTS lines and Copper to ABF/GPON circuits, This will dry up and it will show who really gets white space and who just flips things.
Does it matter tho?
I mean, the better you preform the higher chance you have to survive the layoff. Either A. You might miss the cutoff for being laid off or B. You'll land another job at AT&T post layoff.
Either way, it's worth it to perform the hight level your can. Otherwise say fu-k it and look for jobs outside.
