Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Union Bank Employees Defined Roles

Any HR employees out there who can provide insight on how much longer it's going to take to determine non-branch Union Bank employees permanent roles, titles, job responsibilities, etc...? Or are we going to just remain in limbo for months on end?

I guess the lucky Union Bank folks are getting the layoff package. It’s a sweet deal as they are honoring MUFG severance package plus prorated bonus for 2023. The unlucky ones got stuck with USB. Talk to your union bank managers ( if they are still around) to see if you can get on the list. It maybe too late now. US bank pay scale is pathetic plus they will lay you off eventually and their severance is no where near what Union bank paid. 30 years will get you only max of 6 months severance with US bank. Not worth it.

Last statement is so true. My position is not needed. Why didn’t they just package me out? This is just not right. I feel like I’m not needed and I have a job just because they had to show there would be no layoffs. They want me to quit, will save them money.

What do you mean apply for a role? They placed me in a position, I didn’t apply for it.
How do I get servance? I rather get serverance than stay in this position

They told me I should know what my title is by October

Hopefully they let us decline and get serverance

But I am thinking they hope I quit. 30 years at UB, so I know they don’t want to pay me
I have no idea what I am doing with this USB position because it different from UB

Per Union Bank severance package if you apply for a role and get an offer, and you decide to decline it, you will still qualify for severance. Only in case if you first accept the job and then decline it then there is no severance.

They are banking on you quitting. This way they can hire lower lesser qualified bankers. US Bank has a military approach. They would prefer to not be an innovator, collaborator, problem solver. They want you to be a soldier who does what they are told. That's why they center their tools on micro management. It's really obvious to most.

I think you answered you own question. They have tagged people as TBD or To be placed. But you have no idea if it’s something you want to do. But if it pays close to your current compensation then you have to take it or lose your severance. Also if you are not placed by Dec , you revert to US Bank severance plan which is less than MUFG. If you don’t have a role by Mid August, you should be knocking on doors.
