Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

GEM Mobility integration

Just curious how others around the nation are being impacted directly within the SLED org. Specifically the mobility integration that goes into effect 09/01 which is adding 2-300% of unnecessary direct sellers in many markets. Many of the SLED mobility sellers who have been supporting both SLED tier 1/ 2 accounts are essentially demoted and removed from accounts they have supported for many years from the state level down. This is following shortly after the majority of the SLED acquisitions workforce was surplussed a little over a week ago essentially dissolving this team. SLED sales managers are being forced out of current roles to take other roles and their teams handed off to FirstNet sales managers which literally have no true understanding of account management or even how this organization functions. It’s extremely bias and the actions leading up to this point have shown extreme favoritism towards the FirstNet Team whom historically has never been considered transactional or even in an account management role. Simply put, the gap in knowledge and skill sets necessary to perform
even the basics of simple daily job duties is a recipe for chaos and disruption within public sector moving forward after the 09/01 hard start. The actions and mistreatment leading up to this and the reduction in responsibilities once held including accounts and revenue by the SLED team. Leads to believe that there is a huge possibility this is an agenda aimed towards reducing workforce voluntarily or the inevitable which would be a surplus Q1 2024.

This is one of the winiest posts I've ever read-OP all b#++-hurt that he's now going to have to earn his paycheck-with a smaller quota and smaller territory and throwing shade on the other sellers that are also impacted and in the same boat,..SLED sellers benefited mightily from the dual comp dynamic with their partnership with the FirstNet team, and what OP fails to mention is that many of the SLED sellers supported the now gem acquisition accounts last year and with the restructure pushed down those acquisition accounts that had service disconnects and credits due that they failed to process as the owning rep..talk about compensation fraud...look inward my son.

Recall AT&T was bought for pennies on the dollar by SBC. SBC adopted many of AT&T product, reduced time to deliver and made a lot of money along the way. Then the curse of AT&T brand reared it's ugly head with the help of greed from the good old boys at the former SBC Headquarter and everything it touched began to unravel and now only way out will be more lay offs and maybe another bail out from the government-remember that tax break? Wasn't it like 29 or 30 Billion? Where O where did all that money go? Forget anyone stepping in to purchase this company with so much debt and a large union sized work force. Nothing against the union but when companies are looking to acquire another company it is usually because the cash flow is great, company highly respected and work force a fraction of what AT&T stands at. Having a union makes it complicated to easily clear the deck of employees due to protections and contracts afforded the union so no company with any hesitation would want to step into this one. At this time we need the union to continue building out the infrastructure and for the rest, outsource all the software jobs to India and AI and hopefully sooner than later the luck turns back in company's favor.

This right here- it’s so true and should’ve been compensation fraud. The overlay groups worked to make sure the other group got compensation.

GEM and FirstNet sellers have been historically lazy. They have relied on dual-comp overlays to hit quota. In the slim chance they actually sold it themselves, they had an overlay process it and commit commission fraud. In many instances it was for equipment discounts that another business unit would discount without scrutiny.

So, those in GEM are now being placed in mid markets? Do they even know how to hunt, it’s not all about retaining. This is about to be he-l for some of us. It’s annoying how they’re taking jobs and they don’t even know how or what to do. I’ve had a GEM join my market and a first net too - why even bother? It makes it harder for those who actually hunt instead of using people you know

This seems to be the agenda of upper management. Change the job functions within a group to that which they are not familiar with. Then turn around and say said employees are not producing at a high level. Then mgt. will determine the work needs to move because productivity has decreased. This is their MO. They have been doing this to occupational for a long time. Now, in occupational groups they have set up metrics to “measure “ the work we do, attendance, quality, productivity. Granted, there are always some bad apples in the bunch, but overall many people “were” giving 110%. The office environment has become more toxic. The morale is rock bottom AND Mgt. is counting the number of service years that the employees have acquired. It’s brought up in monthly meetings the total of service anniversary years of the employees…per month is 200 plus combined.
This aligns with the statement made on the employee townhall meeting by JS, that the company wants younger employees. You know , the infamous recording that is not being posted because of the foot in mouth error by JS.

I won’t be surprised if the company does some more restructuring. Movement of work, layoffs under the guise of RTO, and closing of offices to reduce the office footprint in this country. The sb c has definitely destroyed at&t .

Tune in As the World Turns… ( yeah I’m a BOOMER and Proud of it.)
