@3cir Boomers are the ones making the decisions at EM and in O&G in general.

What’s weird to me is seeing how the boomers eat each other. I’ve never seen another generation do that.

Anyone else notice that we have a co-op program in India? So we are doing the right thing by getting rid of the boomers, but we will also be getting rid of the recent U.S. college graduates. There is no future for anyone at this place. I'm applying for other jobs and interviewing to get out of this place. At least I'll make three years here, but that will be three years of my life wasted, three years I'll never get back.

Your job is either turning a knob or you’re a manager (which is about the same thing). If moving most jobs that require a graduate degree to India would actually work, the industry would have done it a long time ago. This is just snake oil sold by consultants.

Yes, they have hired several people in Asia and here in the U.S. to do what I used to do.

Doesn’t seem like cost savings when 4 unskilled people taking twice as long to do the work of an experienced qualified employee. Not to mention all the errors and dollars lost. Of course, that’s all swept under the rug by the supervisors because it goes against their narrative of efficiency gains under their watch.

@1lls+1nVfdVoh we are not victims unless all we are doing is complaining. You should not assume all we are doing is hanging out in here and complaining. This betrayal of loyal employees and Americans is being shared, being worked, being addressed. Unfortunately the company is being on the wrong side of respect for loyal employees!

Guys, this is @wui+1nVfdVoh again. Trust me, I'm on your side. I'm a victim too. Just saying that this is the reality and instead of complaining either open a business, become a millionaire, or stay in your current path and suffer the process. Nothing will change. Complaining about how unfair things are will only damage your health. It is silly.

That’s assuming everything is a commodity which it is not. Exxon is losing is core competencies to compete including high value products and emerging/advantage technologies. The amateurs at BTC/KLTC will never be able to step up. And what young quality talent wants to make a career with this toxic culture bulkheaded by the GE management philosophy with guidance from the dopes at McKenzie.

It is a business. XOM has to take care of the stock. If someone can do your job cheaper overseas, then they would probably be inclined to do that (no different than us enrolling in a cheaper cell phone plan). Some people complain, but this is the reality. If it was your business, I'm pretty sure you would do the same thing (just like switching energy companies for a lower bill).
