Wonder when the company realizes labor is not purely commoditized and can be scaled at will for short term gains. There will be long term loss of talent and likely other problems, we work in an industry where you can start cutting corners and it will add up. We had to lay off people this year not because they weren't performing, we just had to make a number of headcount cuts. Rank people without forced headcount reductions every single year, some years you may need to but other years you will be understaffed. Can only lead a horse to water.

EM's a commodity company, y'all.
Yeah. It used to run the world - colonies, wars and all.
Now it just runs you.
a commoditized resource called 'human'.

That's not going to change in any company.

We got a pippin' hot danceline in hotdesk he-l
And the special interest groups are doing really well!
We got high dollar BBQ in low class digs
Summon up the carbon and drop all the rigs!

Sardine central in your new office line-
Get back to work no time to wine!
Dollar General rentin' the office next to you
Hope there isn't a return of the COVID flu!

Outsourcing Upsourcing and Budget cutting fun
Ain't no way we will get the work done!
Write PDS and pad it really good--
And f--- s--- up in your neighborhood!

« It was announced yesterday that Microsoft will no longer use the Jack Welch-inspired rank-and-yank system for promotions and bonuses and the like. It’s about time. In fact, they were probably several years late in arriving at that decision. Hope it’s not too late. »
Funny when you read that the article is more than 9 years old. So, if my understanding is correct, MS were late in dumping this forced ranking system 9+ years ago. What should be said about EM, still using it in 2023 ? :D

This is why DW is doing what he does. He's the first MBA as XOM CEO and came from a group they trialed a while ago. He's the only one left because the others got ran off. He doesn't know how to create value, so he just displaces cost at the risk of long-term health, which is a 180 degree turn from XOM's historical strategy. He's making the same mistake all the others made because he's old and arrogant.

uyghurs? Ceo has told us in his latest SOCKS communication exactly what he wants. He wants to treat us like his father treated him because it worked with him! That is his logic! Dad pushed me beyond my limit! I learned I can do it! If I can do it, you WILL DO IT! Cheaper than the BTC or bust! You will be a pippin down the road and freeing up a place for the kids that can't really do it but they are CHEAP! CHEAP! CHEAP! That is the only value/qualifier for this equation - cheap equals cheap. If not cheap there may be something available with the uyghurs community. Look at the XOM Carrers postings, almost 100 openings! It would be interesting to know how many people that ranked NI OR NSI can find a job description there identical to the position they are currently in?????

Why does HR need to report into the CEO? Shouldnt they report into Business Services like the other support functions? Same question for E&PS (facilities). Why the special treatment? The CEO needs to provide strategy, not oversee operations.

NSI with distinction is what I give this place! It's turned into a big ole' BTC burger with a side of pip'd fries.
