Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Mandatory 4 days in office is coming

Well here we go. Was just on a call with the COO, HR, Legal and others where RTO status was being discussed and it was confirmed, 4 days in office with 1 day remote is going to be mandated, they are just working out the messaging and timing.

If you live near a hub, and have a legit medical accommodation - and you’re let go because you can’t come into hub - isn’t there a law around that? And why is this push to RTO so aggressive? Why is being in the office so important? It’s 2024 ffs.

At first I heard buzz word “collaboration”- which is funny because lack of seating prevents any of our team to sit together. I know for a fact, after working from home for 12 years, I would be far less productive in the office, for several reasons.

I know I’m late to the conversation, & I see there are skeptics - but where I am located, it’s been made very clear that no one is safe.

All this crazy nonsense is creating undue stress and havoc within the org. Employee morale is way down. Wells is a sh-t show and a joke - they lie, a lot. Smile in your face and talk sh-t behind your back. The “culture” is dead.

RTO disregards women with kids who like WFH for practical reasons. Banking is male dominated. Some things never change.

"4 Days in would only possibly work in an end state where Schart gets the total employee count down to 210K"

https://www.bankingdive.com/news/bank-of-america-4000-job-cuts-attrition-no-layoff-math-messaging-moynihan-earnings/648079/

According to the article above, Bank of America, a significantly larger competitor to WF, wanted to do at least 3000 layoffs in Q2 2023 to get down from 216k to 213k employees and keep slashing from there.

So your statement about WF getting down to 210k is basically half right. You're right, they need to get down to at least 210,000 but they won't stop there. I'm seeing projections of reaching down as low as 147,000 US employees by 2027. There will be plenty of seats even for elimination of work from home at that point even with selling off multiple properties.

Technology said that 3 days in the office is mandatory starting Sept 1st.

4 Days in would only possibly work in an end state where Schart gets the total employee count down to 210K with 30% (63K) in WFIP. That would leave the need for 147K seats, which is doable under the current footprint.

However, the company is still pulling back the number of buildings in Hubs and closing down non-Hubs so this whole concept could be, as said below, "a huge CPG fucccckkkkupppp".

So much about this post is wrong. Use your noggin’ to decipher the real posts from the troll posts. Don’t feed the trolls with attention. Let them slither off like the snakes they are.

Layoff.com needs a truth-o- meter.

Come back to read occasionally and can’t believe it is getting worse. Really at a new depth of low. Hang on for severance if able. So glad they let me go after 35 plus years. Enjoying getting paid. Ruthless cut throat mngt. , driving the stagecoach over the cliff. So sad to see a once great bank and brand go this way. Good luck.

Zesty ranch corn puffs. Orange Fanta. Loaded tots and fiesta chicken tenders. These is just a few of the option available on campus for your RTO journey. Other (additional) option include Nashville hot wings and drummies, double stack patty melts, Flamin hot Cheetos and harvest cheddar potato crisps. Thank
You and have a bless day

I have no idea if this is 'happening' or not, but FRTO, even 1 day of it is stupid useless cr-p from mo--ns stuck in the 20th century.

What I do know is that sufficient space in-office won't be a problem for long. They are firing people at a fast enough clip that the domestic workforce will easily fit in the buildings that remain in the short term. The final solution, of course, is 2 hubs, Hyderabad and Hudson Yards. Everything else will be shut down. Just a matter of time.

CIC getting very full … the “FRTO” people must now be showing up out of fear of losing their jobs LOL

RTO. Lol. I’m in the office today and my floor was a ghost town before even 3p. So people are either coming in really early or just bailing really early. I was in by 7:30 today. I really think they’re gonna see major productivity issues.

If this is real, it’s totally stupid. Seriously, why even bother?? I hate RTO but 4 days might as well be 5, right? Eff CS.

C-suite must love work slowdowns. Tighten the screws, productivity decreases.

It’s been the c-suite plan all along.

Doing this, along with putting the squeeze on some remote people, will “help” the bank get voluntary attrition to a more comfortable number.

Also, a lot of India and Philippines moved to or is moving to 4/1 so only natural to brag about that to the US as well. It’s been a love fest with executives and India recently so they can’t wait to throw that in US faces. Leading the way and all that BS.

Sad, but true, unfortunately.

"This is a CPG fuuuckup and a Charlie misfire"

Actually, I think this is all a management misfire. Management is simultaneously asking CPG to exit leases and also trying to get everyone back into offices.

I went remote in 2015 due to lack of seats and nothing has changed. Still a lack of seats for everyone whether assigned or not. This is a CPG fuuuckup and a Charlie misfire. Sounds like I'll be working most days from the cafeteria. Anybody want anything while I'm there....?

I call BS. Parts of Consumer Lending are going to one week in, one week remote because of a lack of desk space.

OC +2/3 are already going in 4 days. It just a matter of time. But they've been talking about it for over a year and still nothing.

I do feel it's a little bit of wanting attrition and probably when they reach their goal, they'll loosing the noose. I've heard through CFO calls that people aren't leaving as fast as they want.

Actually, I like the idea of 4 days a week in office, sharing desk with 4 females. I promise to stay long hours :)

So the OP, most likely a 7 or 8 down, was in a meeting with the executives from COO where they formally announced 4 days in office was coming? I will believe this fear mongering when I see it. However, I would not be surprised because they are trying to drive attrition. We already know the numbers are lower than they expected.

I guess, it will be 4 working days model where people will do minimum work in the office barn and none or close to none work at home. They will get exactly what they are asking.

Tech just got 3/2 no way to push to 4/1…if that’s the case many many people will be badging in and badging right out due to no seating forget about FRTO…F WF!!!

There's already not enough room at many campuses for 2/3. 4/1 will be darned near impossible. Call me a skeptic.

I can’t see them implementing this any sooner than Q1 of 2024 (probably January 2nd). Considering all office modeling hinges on the 3/2 for in office, there won’t be enough seats to accommodate everyone having to be here 4 or more days (especially with us sheading real estate quicker than severing employees). What are we going to do? Sit in each other’s laps?😂

Did Jamie D. dictate this to Charlie?

If they had a decent space for me to work it would soften the blow. This open neighborhood cr8p totally su-ks and it is hard to concentrate or critically think.

If their goal is a moderate-to-mass exodus, then 4 or 5 days in office will for sure accomplish that.

SO many people are going to be checked out (just not quite enough to get fired for) causing the bank to continue its downward slide.

This place...
