Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tech Managers are not Managers

Let's call them facilitators, hyperfocused on their own job security that they do their best to be as frictionless as possible w/ upper mgmt. Oh my how awful it would be to contribute one's own thoughts for improvements upstream!

Instead we wait for some poor sap who stumbles across Loudspeaker and then upper mgmt makes an effort to listen.

My tech manager has been at wf for 27 years, and believe me, he does nothing. Yeah, he knows the ins and outs, knows a lot of names, but pretty much says, yes, to everything that comes down the pipe so as to not draw attention to what he doesn't do. And that's manage. Some of his peers do meaningful work, but not this guy.

what is "Loudspeaker"? Is that some sort of product design tool? Or is it a way for the user to cry out for some technology? Sounds like the whole system is more reactive than pro-active...

It’s not the manager’s fault. It’s the structure dictated by senior leadership, though they claim otherwise. They listen to Loudspeaker because that’s SP’s baby, and the oc loves that program. If you want action, submit a Loudspeaker. The different lob’s have to respond per the program procedures and they have to do it by a certain date per the service level agreement.
