Since the entire farm was bet on IFS, you either have to believe it will work or it won't.
I have been around semiconductors since 1980 and I know INTC & TSMC very well. TSMC have decades lead, huge ecosystem and a culture and process that can deal with high product mix, low volume. Intel has none of these skills and the culture is 180 degrees different from what you need to be a contract manufacturer in silicon. This is even before talking about cost structure. Intel is bloated and tax breaks can't close the gap.
Sorry to paint such a dour picture. Just have to tell it like it is.
