I rather work from home, get up late, take care of personal stuff. Not work.
"Technical jobs that require white board discussion and debate cannot done from home."
Said the dinosaur 3rd level baby-boomer who needs to retire. There are hundreds of tools available to do all that remotely. You just can't deal with change.
I was a really good worker with good work ethic until I realized that if you don’t work hard management does nothing so this is the way it is at AT&T. Bad workers are left alone and good workers get extra work dumped on and tend to check out eventually. Just getting burned out on the lack of parity in the workload and I’m not talking perfect parity even 50% would be nice.
be sure and sell all AT&T stock holdings
"AT&T can do much better job with 50% of the work force and all working from the office"
"I would say with only 25% of the headcount T can meet and exceed the goals"
Due to the failing and shrinking business, T doesn't need so many workers. However, the people who got cut were usually good workers doing the real works, while those who got to stay over others were good with politics or simply in the right zip code. It's a vicious cycle. At the end, the company will be left with most people on the top who don't know how to do their jobs.
We exceeded our goals as per the 100+ % bonus payouts...they have NOTHING except "move across the Country or be fired" to stand on
all employees who are affected be sure and disconnect all ATT services ....
"Stop blaming JS for your failures and start to listen to your leaders and do the right thing"
Stop blaming us for JS and his syphant's failures and start to listen to the workers and do the honorable thing: resign!
Technical jobs that require white board discussion and debate cannot done from home
If you want AT&T to be successful and stock go back to $30 everyone has to go back to office
Stop blaming JS for your failures and start to listen to your leaders and do the right thing
AT&T can do much better job with 50% of the work force and all working from the office, you know that and deep inside you agree with me but you can’t lose the luxury of wfh and stay front of your screen doing nothing >>>>>>
Management >>>
Whomever posted this garbage (above) is not a Technical worker and has no knowledge of successful groups who are Technical and WFH for years. For me, going to the office is less productive.
The issue now is JS has no idea how to run a company. When he forced retirement due to loss of retiree health benefits our group lost 20% of highly skilled workers. We could not function at optimum- we hired them back as Contractors 6 months later. Then JS, who caused the mass exodus complained that the company was spending too much money on contractors. He didn’t realize that he caused that expense. He has done this with other large acquisitions as well. He has no business sense.
Regardless of the size of the headcount
I definitely believe T real problems are in the leadership
The head count in 2009 was more than today and T was the telecom leader in the market
I would say with only 25% of the headcount T can meet and exceed the goals

I have to agree some how with you
In my daily working calls I see 20 plus people in the call but only 3 or 4 are really doing the work

“Working from home covered the same time span that this happened. I'm not staying it caused this, but we have to try something different.“
Good morning John. Nice to see you again this Sunday. We should indeed try something different. In case you missed it, AT&T funded TMO after a failed acquisition attempt and they built a ton of new sites with that money. The best thing would be for you to help us by going to work at TMO.
Look guy. The reality is that our network is slow and has less coverage than T-Mobile, who were a laughingstock compared to us a few years ago.
Working from home covered the same time span that this happened. I'm not staying it caused this, but we have to try something different.
Remote skilled workers from foreign countries cost less and have no medical benefits paid out.
HR shared our EAP counselors have MBAs. Can anyone help me understand why that’s relevant? I found it insulting!
Time to get back into the office and actually work instead of doing personal chores on company time.
How many of these employees jobs will be replaced by DALL-E and ChatGPT?
There is no forcing. Employees have choice.
it would not be surprising if some mad employees return to office, have a mysterious workers comp . injury, get on long term disability and return back home with a paycheck forever for no work done . no one should ever do that but tricks companies play on workers causes anger and discontent and therefore poor decisions. every good h.r. mgr. well knows you never allow mistreated, angry employees back on company property to attempt a slip and fall injury. that is why all fired workers are escorted off the property right away.
Waah!
Very sorry you chose AT&T ..Your world destroyed!
“By forcing them to "relocate", they're only pushing people out, and good people too, and will have to pay them severance to leave anyway.”
Repackaged tu-d. Layoff dressed as business transformation vs. headcount rationalization. They know the demographics of those who likely won’t follow the job and it looks less like targeting older employees.
No...they are making moving part of your job committment...hence you can be fired without severance...this is what they are doing...trying to avoid paying severance.
"AT&T is simly trying to avoid paying severance to THOUSANDS of employees, many who have 20yrs plus service...they want to rip you out of your home and force you to move to high cost markets with zero assurance you will even keep your job. Don't believe a thing AT&T management spews, they are corrupt and dirty filthy non-humans"
Agree with the second part of your post, but the first statement is counterintuitive. If they don't want to pay severances, all they have to do is allow people to continue to work as they already do. By forcing them to "relocate", they're only pushing people out, and good people too, and will have to pay them severance to leave anyway.
What confuses me, is sure, layoffs are bad, but with targeted layoffs, they at least have control over who leaves and who stays. The way they're doing it now, they will be losing people they likely really need, and for what? Honestly, what is a benefit? To reduce head count and costs? Ok, then do more lay-offs, we're all used to it. There is really no apparent logic here.
These employees are not returning to work ...they NEVER worked in an office!!! Remote for 20 years...suddenly oh, sell your home say goodbye to the fam and move to 1 of these 9 places??? WTF????
"Everyone is using roads to go to work yes it’s normal."
Sure, but with so many jobs that can be done remotely, it really shouldn't the norm, and AT&T is trying to push the flex work model onto other companies, and happy to sell them tools to do it, but then don't want to live up to their own standards internally. Not a good look.
AT&T has stated internally all they want to sell is fiber and 5G...i would stay FAR away from signing up for any of their business services...you WILL be hung out to dry.
All you fake GREEN F cks ...LOVE driving your big gas guzzlers to work and paying for parking!!!
These are long term empoyees who were NEVER in an office, were aways remote for decades...sure we can go into the office and F off like everyone else...no revenue generation but PLENTY of around the cooler, cafe F ind off

Shove your mental heath resource where the sun don't shine ...hope AT&T crashes to dust
