40 hours? Must be nice to be able to work part time.

I really don’t know why there needs to be the whole us versus them mentality between “management “ and craft, but it feels like it’s been going on for a really long time. When we all started at the company, we were just looking for a good job and to start a career, make a living, etc. and we probably weren’t even thinking about any of the union/management stuff.

But the rift continues to be a thing and it seems like both sides still have their heels dug in for whatever reason. We’re all just trying to make a living and it would be better if we can do things as a team, but I don’t think T wants it to be that way.

"And what on this board makes you feel so upset with managers?"

Union members are taught, and most believe, that "managers" means someone who is in charge of union people. They don't understand the vast number of 'managers' in the company are things like engineers, programmers, accountants, and other professionals, most of whom have no direct reports and aren't really in charge of anything (other than themselves).

When I started, I was told that 'manager' really meant "Self Time Manager" or STM. I don't know if that's literally true but it's seems to be an accurate description.

I'm not sure what to make of the previous comment.

First, no, managers are not "higher class", 99% of us are guys and gals trying to make a living, like you. And what on this board makes you feel so upset with managers? It's just people worried about their careers and the future, and being stuck in the state of limbo almost, people are thirsty for any kind of information they can find.

Next. I almost never see anyone saying anything negative about union guys, maybe only when someone from the union posts an uncalled-for attack on non-union managers first, or if people are talking about the union itself, but practically never about any bargained for employees. I came from CWA, you will never BS me into believing it's actually any good. Whatever great contract you think they "won" for you is usually AT&T's most basic offer that the union always makes a lot of noise about, then just folds and takes without any real fight. Been there. Done that. But, I don't have anything against all the workers that are in the union, yet it feels like you guys often do with me, for whatever reason. So, honestly, why is there so much hate for the so-called "management" class?

Oh how you turn your fellow employee. I used to think that management was a higher class of employee and was something to aspire to, but after reading this board for a while I realize I was wrong.
Proud to be a Union Dreg with a pension lump sum and 401K that will let me put AT&T in the rear view mirror at 55.
