Thread regarding Ford layoffs

All you "Just Say No To RTO" should tell your bosses that today!

Since you're all going to quit over RTO you should let your manager know that today!

That will let more of us that are willing to RTO stay with the company through the SIRP!!

Come on, you are going to quit anyway to stop from RTOing! Sacrifice yourselves to save the rest of us. Do it for your coworkers!

I wouldn't quit of RTO, I'd force them to fire. To dispense with severance package, to go through the monumental paperwork required to remove a salaried employee. From the words on behalf of the manager.

I'd sabotage results to find equity value in time, and work in a lesser capacity to find a happy medium. In our current roll, it's easy to claim such and such caused added delays. SOOO effing easy.

And in my current line of work, there are recruiters up the azz wanting to pay big bucks to hire. If you are an electrical wizard of any kind, it's the magic button for these effing EV's and AV's they want to push. No shortage of jobs - ever. They're trying to scalp world class talent while still holding a job today. Now that, reeks of desperation.

Know your worth. Know your value. Zero cares at all.

We can educate Americans. It will hit home. Especially with Model e’s target - wealthy educated consumers. No one else can afford those vehicles.

Sure. The blue collar workforce might be hyper focused on the UAW workers. They wouldn’t be the intended audience.

The Millennials and Gen Z will listen up and respond if nothing else. Especially if their own peer group get the word out. Their will be some sacrificial casualties to lowers to risk for ageism lawsuits.

That will tough, the salary people are an invisible workforce since the public thinks that everyone works at the plants. There is no such thing as automotive office people.

Ford will just show the public smiling UAW people on the line saying everything is fine.

Social media is a powerful resource. Spread the facts once the cuts drop. How many people were laid off. The number of US salary workers now compared to other automotive. The outsourcing US jobs to other countries, etc. If everyone did this, something will go viral and it will be picked up by the news.

The American public will respond.

Ford will send most salary jobs to LCC. There are no politics in firing salary people,
we are an invisible workforce, since the public thinks everyone in automotive
works in the plants.

@OP - By all means, please be 'in the office' 10 hours per day and 6 days per week like so many of us had to do 'back in the day', wearing a coat an tie (and fake smile) in a very disciplined environment. Late for a meeting ? They would LOCK THE DOOR ! Ha ! Imagine how the peeps today would have a melt-down over that . . . Many of us more experienced employees have 'paid our dues' and so now we do lovingly accept the new 'whatever' culture of 4 hours per day/4 days per week like the newly entitled brats and 'special hires' think they are entitled to !!
So . . . 'ere we go ! >>>> "Just say NO to RTO ! Just say NO to RTO !" - JSN2RTO Guy

Since the company has sold off a lot of buildings and office space why would I want to go through the hassle of scheduling a different workspace and a locker in different building? What a pain in the bu-t. Ford has mishandled the COVID outbreak on so many dimensions, lost and stolen vehicles, mismanagement of real estate, summarily dismissing valued employees without knowledge transfer or respect, and cancelling projects to streamline the business. I hope the company goes bankrupt. Go pound sand!

Ford should stop offshoring USA jobs to lcc. That is the way to contain costs.

There are still a bunch of semi retired people milking a WFH paycheck. RTO will get rid of them without having to pay severance.

: @dmp - can u site ur source? I find it very hard to believe there will b an 85% reduction by 2025. That means between now and next year 85% will be laid off in the US? That will not bode well for politics and brand image. I’m not buying it.

Ford is targeting a huge 85% reduction in USA 🇺🇸 salary headcount workforce by 2025 CY. Ford took $2B charges already stated in the last filing last quarter. Actions this 23CY. That’s 8K heads being chopped off. Meanwhile all workload is already being given away to China, India, Mexico and Brazil. Our days are numbered here at Ford in USA.

@upa+1ndLA1pU

I think the OP's point is, that if enough just do no to RTO folks walk out, they won't be able to get rid of as many in the SIRP.

They still need to keep the lights on, so if they are targeting 33% reduction and 15% quit due to RTO, then they would only need to target 18% to meet their target.

Thats not how it works. If they want you gone for whatever reason you will be. If you like going in and want to your decision. If you like remote your decision. Just because you choose one or the other does not mean your out. Worry about you
