Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Working harder

In my case, I'm still not on the verge of burnout but I have more to do than ever before.

Is there anyone here who can say that working harder paid off, that is, that you were accordingly rewarded for it or more valued?

Like any other modern company, they tout and expect hard work and sacrifice but give you no raises to keep up with inflation, managers get bonuses and take credit for your work. Intel exploits their workers just like any other company but just had a nice veneer to convince you otherwise

If you work hard and actually get promoted, you'll become too expensive, get a layoff target on your back and your job will be outsourced to a cheaper geo. So yeah, no point in working hard even if there were "rewards".

Work hard because that is what you do but intel only rewards politicians. Move to a real company that is a meritocracy and you’ll shine. Stay at intel if you want to play politics.

OP, you don't have to work hard to be happy. Look at your president. Sure he does a lot of work to avoid tripping even while walking straight

It doesnt matter what happened in past. Tell me where is the reason now to work hard ?

They cant just keep asking people to work hard without giving a raise. This is just insane.

Cut the business and people who needed to be cut and give money to the people who are now working harder.

Employees can sustain for a quarter, but not like this. Where is the reward for working so hard in last 18 months ?

Having a job is not a reward.

Working harder at flattering the bosses and playing the political game, yes that pays off.

Working harder at engineering, nah.

Turns out having evangelicals at the helm is a bad idea.

Yes, it has paid off when I was in a stable organization. The problem is you can't work hard and get anywhere when the org is constantly changing around you unless you're just all talk and no action to begin with.

Good luck finding a stable organization with jobs you actually want at Intel.

10+ yes ago. Yes. Not any more. Intel lost the founding culture that made it's great thanks to corrupt leaders and wookesters..
