I thought in the last contract. They agreed to suspend the early retirement penalty? ( If you have less then 30yrs and under 55 )

I don’t think I can stay here till I’m the minimum age 50 with 25 years.
I assume you mean the % reduction per year of your pension for each year below 55. Get a copy of the contract and look. Full pension eligibility has nothing to do with the IRS.
Whoever posted that irs statement is the d-mb@$$. Yes the early retirement penalty can be waived. 6% reduction in pension for every year under 30. Has nothing to with early retirement for ira and other TAX purposes. This is the pension payout purposes. Heck if they wanted to they could have made it a 15 year retirement. It’s a private company
There is no such thing as an early retirement penalty of you are financially smart. Unioners are shackled to the promise of handouts from their VZ master.
The only way is if Verizon declares Chapter 13 bankruptcy. As also with our sovereign nation, declaring bankruptcy.
Embarrassingly d-mb statement. This is not negotiable when brokering a renewal craft/labour contract.
The early retirement age is an one-shoe-size-fit-all. This is the law as enforced by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS wants the union's money as well and not just from VZ's management employees. Craft/union, there is no free lunch.
Sorry, but a boneheaded posting.
