Block out your calendar for after hours. Decline meetings before your start and ignore calls after your end time, as well as during lunch. That is what a meets employee does. When asked to document what you do, throw it out there with a few sentences. You'll be praised for being a team player by your out of touch management. Give minimal effort. Use WF to upskill and leave when you're ready.

It can be quite chaotic and distracting during early morning meetings. It's not uncommon to hear a medley of sounds like someone fa----g, brushing their teeth, toilets flushing, cooking noises, kids crying, spouses arguing, or even dogs barking.

It seems like a symphony of various daily activities all happening simultaneously. Such a diverse range of sounds can certainly make it challenging to focus and have productive discussions during those early hours.

why not block your calendar for off hours and only keep available your actual worming hours. having to take an early meeting once in a while is one thing, but if it a regular occurance start declining and set boundaries. I'm sure those in the east coast wouldn't want you to set a 4pm meeting in a Friday.

Are you exempt? Start early end early. I’ll take that 6am meeting drive into the office when I have a 30 min break and record the reason I came in late on my personal calendar. And while I’m at it I will skip lunch (eat at my desk) so I can leave early. I don’t have kids to worry about. 6-2 sounds good to me.

You have three options with meetings, Accept, Decline, Tentative. Choose decline or tentative with an explanation. Why even sweat it?

Those on EST expect all to revolve around their schedules. They don’t want meetings earlier than 8:30am EST, miss their lunch at 11:30-1 EST and will get on your case if you schedule something 5pm EST or later but never give the same courtesy to those in other time zones from my experience.

Why is this an issue. If it's before 8am or after 5pm DECLINE. If it's a requirement let them record the call and send out replay link to all outside their time zone. Employees need to stop bending over backwards to accommodate this s#!t show of a company. They don't care about you. They force rank you on reviews, they control bonus with no real parameters except manager discretion, RTO to all even if you never had an office and all the BS that comes with it, etc., etc. And now they want you to call in during your personal time...forgetaboutit! YOU (WE) DESERVE BETTER!

I decline those meetings. It has to be something critical and a good reason for the early time form me to accept even a 7 am meeting.

As someone who has to set up and lead meetings that include attendees from all time zones around the globe, I go by who is truly required to be on the call. The required are who I prioritize days and times around, as much as possible.

Unfortunately, many on these calls are optional but required to be invited per business procedure. Thank WF for making something so simple be a cluster!

Trust me, I feel like a sh$t when I basically have to tell them they were invited as courtesy and we are not changing the time for someone not required to be there in the first place.

Not sure if the OP is a required attendee on these calls or not but it’s not always the fault of the organizer. And setting up meetings is my least favorite task to do as I have real cr@p to get done far more important than picking out dates and times that will never work for everyone.

when the facilitator lead suggested i get up at 3 am to get a report out for EMEA so it would arrive before 9am and still log in at 6 am for the calls, daily. I absolutely realized this company is run by some lunatics and I wasn’t making nearly enough.

You need to set the record straight with your partners then. Even my boss won't set up meetings before 8:30 and he's an hour ahead of me. We're also very cognizant of those on the west coast. Seems you work with a bunch of mo--ns but don't think tye entire company is this way

Easy solution, WF doesn't get attendance from me outside of my scheduled shift hours. If they wanted me to attend, they'd schedule it when I'm on the clock.

Are u west coast? Decline the meeting. They can’t retaliate for that.
