Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Altomari Email

To: All ACE East Management Employees

Earlier today, we implemented staff reductions impacting our organization. At this time, all impacted active employees have been notified. Impacted employees on disability or leave of absence will be notified upon their return to work.

I know we are currently in the middle of the How & Where We Work initiative and I want to separate these two efforts.

This staff reduction decision helps drive a more competitive cost structure, and there will be continual efforts to operate more efficiently and properly size our organization to build a competitive and sustainable AT&T.

We have to make these hard decisions to remain a competitor in this industry. But that doesn't make this easy. This is very difficult as some of our friends and colleagues are affected. Please be empathetic and sensitive with our colleagues.

Thank you for your continued focus on being a leader in network connectivity.

The only thing T has mechanized here is the surplus process and all emails associated with it.

Managers laugh and talk down to craft employees during a union surplus. Now you know how it feels. They don’t care about you if you’re not bringing in revenue. It’s always one group thinks they’re better than another then they’re surplussed out the door quick. It’s a legal liability to have you here.

I got this same email when I got laid off in 2019. My sympathy to all as it just plain sux. Not much work getting done right now as they put everyone in the spinner.

So they had to get rid of certain number of employees to make room for others to RTO. Clever solution. I bet the number of people surplused today matches the number of seats they were short for round one. I expect more layoffs since there us another waive of people coming to the office after Labor Day.

"This staff reduction decision helps drive a more competitive cost structure..."

Never gonna happen. The ineptitude of the c-suite is all encompassing and never ending. Just check the stock price. In the last two years it's down 28%. Id--ts leading the stupid.

Hopefully the, “ helps drive a more competitive cost structure… to operate more efficiently and properly size our organization to build a competitive and sustainable AT&T.” Includes a CEO and more than a few of his comrades. That would make for a more competitive company, cut where it matters for the most impact.

1 CEO = 133 L2’s, approximately
20 million / 150k = 133

New CEO pay is performance based, merit.

To: (inset your org name here)

Earlier today, we laid off some people. Everyone this round already knows.
People not here will know when they get back.

Currently you are dealing with 2 different shitstorms.

Layoffs save money. There will be more soon.

We have to lay people off to not go broke due to our stupid decisions. But this will never impact me so I’m not that concerned.

You better stay focused on your job despite this.

“Continual efforts to size appropriately”

If we didn’t get you now, we’ll be back to get you later.

They don’t even try to show empathy.

“Continual efforts to size appropriately” F you….maybe had they not made horrible business decisions we would not be in this situation. How about cleaning house at the top and find people qualified to actually manage the business???

Very compassionate of our leadership to send a generic email template out. The Company gets worse by the minute.
Why would any college graduate want a job here.. disgusting
