I hope for the best, but it's still wiser to dust off the resume.

@ppp+1nfTuCx0 I remember fondly when I was young and naive. After one has some mileage on them you realize that of course Ford leadership lies to their workers. Then as you advance up the ranks you are in meetings where plans are hatched, messaging created, and directives are given.
So here is the straight scoop, Ford leadership knows that the best and most capable employees will jump ship sooner than Ford wants them to, if they know the truth about impending layoffs. When the best begin to jump ship it has a domino effect, they pull the coworkers they respect to the their new employer. Leaving Ford leadership with just the dregs. So they purposely deceive their workers, in order to attempt to control which employees stay and which go.
The targets for this cut is 25% of salaried Dearborn staff, contractors also to be cut. The contractor % not disclosed. All areas have cuts, however, not a uniform distribution % cut across all of F and FC. Source a LL4 who was voluntold he would be departing.
I keep seeing the number of $3 billion that Ford needs to cut in costs. If an average employee costs $200,000 per year, that would mean 15,000 employees need to go. That would be a great thing, if they were all the Ford family and friends. There are now about 31,000 salary employees in US, so almost half would need to go, or at least go to lower cost countries, to achieve that savings.
@bnb+ The last layoff did not show up on WARN either, even after the actual layoffs. Somehow the company has figured out a way to not report layoffs to WARN.
I hope the news are wrong. If not, then I feel for all the employees and their families. Best wishes.
Fords gets around the warn act by paying you 30 days servence. Thats the WARN act notice peroid.
Hate this company, so depressing, laying off people every 6 months. Just put in 9 hours today, heard the news while driving home. How could anyone not stress out about this?
“The Blue Oval is gearing up to lay off 8,000 salaried workers — about a quarter of its workforce in the US”— according to Ford source
@ppp+1nfTuCx0 Dude Farley “leaked” it to the WSJ. It is the Ford way post Mulally - leak it to the press and then after people have had a weekend to digest send an internal email about it
Last go around we heard the news from the media, though there was a lot of internal chatter. Ford has never been upfront.
I still don't believe this hearsay and everyone knows the media can be wrong sometimes. Our leadership have consistently said employees will hear first and not to pay attention to noise from the outside.
Ford stated new generation of family members need employment. High salary, no skills required. Must be from the real Ford Family gene pool. Other Fords good luck.
Wall Street journal has confirmed layoffs are happening next week.
Checked the Michigan WARN notice site and there is nothing listed there as Ford submitting a filing of a massive layoff pending.
Ford has 25,000 more salary jobs than competitors. 15,000 are family and friends, so only 10,000 will go. About 5,000 were in Europe, so another 5,000 in US.
Who knows. There r still a ton of people who haven’t even heard of a layoff happening next week.
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.
Big. 8-10k. All levels. All departments.
