Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

End Game

After the loss of thousands of jobs nothing will change. VP and above levels will scramble around to give Stankey optimistic forecasts of double digit growth. The reality will be falling market value and spin to Wall Street.

There will be more consultants and temps working from home to replace the employees that were let go.

This is inhumane and ridiculous in terms of the business. Incredible incompetence. We will soon see the result.

"Oh well. Leadership doesn't care. So neither do I."

"Projects can just sit there."

I was surplussed and the sh---y little female AVP demanded that I work until the hour I am scheduled to quit on my last day on payroll. I said "Sure". Literally every day for the next 2 weeks she wanted to know about the work I completed. I then told her I had to look over all the surplus materials to get a good handle on what my benefits are, what choices are good for me and my family, waiting to talk with HR reps, etc. She balked and was pi---d but I told her my family comes first. Every stinkin' day for that 2 week period she wanted to know what I was doing. Every stinkin' day I told her the same thing.
Stupid bi--h. You can't lay off someone and expect any work out of them. What a d-mbshit! But that is so typical of the absolutely shittiest management on the planet.

""Robert Half is going to make a fortune staffing temps to replace employees that were let go."

Thought I suspect at some point, yes, the staffing companies in cahoots with T will enjoy a high number of requests for bodies...sadly, that direction will be given by the same people who just axed however many thousand. And we need to stop talking about it as if it's just plug and play; you cannot jettison an employee with 20-30 years of institutional and market level knowledge and replace them with any remote warmbody with a phone and a laptop somewhere across the country and expect things will be seamless.

There are no handovers anymore. There is no cross training. People being notified are immediately sending one email saying something to the affect of, "I've been surplussed, call my Boss, and good luck". I have a couple of these since yesterday.

Oh well. Leadership doesn't care. So neither do I.

Projects can just sit there.

The future is that Stankey will blame all of the employees for not embracing his vision, which will lead to huge decreases in revenue and hundreds of thousands of jobs. There will be a bloodbath until what's left of the rotting husk is sold off to whoever buys it.

"Robert Half is going to make a fortune staffing temps to replace employees that were let go."

The impact will be marginal. Very few backfills will be possible. Remaining managers will have to cover down again.

Even with updated forecast for some earnings, they still say Q2 FCF will be $3-4B.

“marginal costs, a shifting of the demand curve, and income elasticity”

These are great. It sounds just like him. Sadly flowery language and doublespeak can’t hide his arrogant incompetence.

The second quarter will be about spin. Stankey will make up a new word and tell the analysts that as soon as his plan is implemented there will be double digit growth!! He’ll throw in a couple of economic terms such as marginal costs and a shifting of the demand curve due to demographic demand and income elasticity to show every one how smart he is!!

Stankey’s comments are more spin than insight into the reality of AT&T!!
