Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

NO MVO by design

3 employees in Anthony Organization raise their Hands be to be surplused instead Company surplus’s 3 employees with 24,26 & 27 years who want to stay. All 3 remaining employees will now retire within 6 months- 2 in the next 30 days. They don’t care about anything but the next quarter on Wall Street. RTO is the same exercise this quarter- reduce headcount at all costs- employees & customers be damned.

Go ahead and drink the Stankey kool-aide. You’re any man’s dog who wants to hunt you. Just a symptom of your weakness. You’re a pu--y and that’s all you’ll ever be.

3 getting laid off and 3 retiring anyways. That’s a win-win for leadership.

The phrase “Needs of the business” is very subjective. I was held in a position for far too long with that phrase, every time I applied for another opening I was denied. Finally I was able to escape after an email was sent to an executive officer asking the validity of invoking needs of the business repeatedly. The return answer was, that’s not acceptable, we are a large company, it’s not how we do business and then proceeded to chastised my managers for using it.

Boys, come one, don't fight. It's really simple. Requesting or volunteering to be surplussed doesn't automatically mean you will get it. They will still look at the needs of a business, and probably consider your request, and may or may not approve it.

“Happy retirement to me. I’m done being embarrassed to work here and not having any confidence in the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.”

It sounds like retirement really is the right station of life for you.

Lots of moving parts when people offer to go. It could be the three they are getting rid of are under performers, disruptive and management want them gone. Just because someone wants to swap with them doesn’t always mean it’s the right thing for the company. On the other side of the coin it could be managements way of getting rid of 6 long term. Without knowing the people you just don’t know.

Bullsh-t. There were people moved around to protect them to avoid them being cut. I know of people who got cut who requested it in numerous groups and got severance so shut up. You don’t know sh-t about this. This place is rotten to the core and nothing will be left but the worst of the lot within the next six months. Happy retirement to me. I’m done being embarrassed to work here and not having any confidence in the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. Good luck everybody. Look out for yourself. Nobody else will.

Surplus moves are specific to positions to, not people.
