Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RTO in August

It’s official, just heard it from my union He said they will start posting notices soon and back we go. It’s gonna be interesting to see how this goes. Probably another way to get people to leave.

The union has been given the notice in some areas to return to office and it will happen everywhere .

I prefer to play with the doggo in the garden with the bluejeans call on mute. Even better if
It is up to speed or an all hands I can just connect with my airshokz and listen to it like a podcast and do other stuff.

It's about time. The days of watching Netflix and The Bold and The Beautiful in between conference calls are over

I wish it were BS. That way I wouldn't be shopping for a more economical car. The office I used to report to has been closed after we went home for the lockdown. I'm gonna have a one way commute of 1.5hr to the next closest open office.
It's too close to retirement for me. I submitted my agreement last week... With any luck, I'll be able to ride it out till the end.

People should RTO or resign. Working from home is equivalent to stealing from the firm.

My brother works for att. He is currently in office 1 day a week. It will be a 2 week cycle starting in August The first week is 3 days RTO and 2 days WFH. 2nd week is 2 days RTO and 3 WFH. He is management.
If Verizon does this, many will start using sick time again. Many drive over 100 miles a day to work and back. Its a complete wast of time and money when everything can be done remotly.

People on my team that reported to a now closed facility were told they have 90 days to make arrangements to report to the nearest office 3 or more times a week. In 30 days, they're required to submit a detailed plan outlining how they intend to comply. A signed commitment to RTO is also required at that time. Failure to comply completely will be considered a resignation.

“ Lies my director told us not ever going back to an office I have parts of my team in different states and they sold the building”

Funny story. My director said the same. People I work with are all in different states many WFH. Most will continue to WFH because their location pre covid is gone but I was told I’ll be RTO because my location didn’t close. They really don’t care about the logic. More importantly they aren’t going to risk themselves to even give a hint they are resisting their orders.

Read the union aggrement , it says they can opt out of it and are going to do that with the hope some folks leave without a buyout . It is confimed that it is happing by the end of the year in all union states .

So i believe who ever posted this is misleading the rumor had nothing to do with union folks the company has a agreement with !Infact the company is saving tons of money from even little things like less sick outs .The truth is that there a some other groups including higher management that are being told to return to offices and some operations groups .Why who knows maybe to corral them into a spot before they Rif end of year

Not going to happen. NY Union agreed to up to 2026 for WFH. Money savings from not having so much space is part of the reason.

How does thus make any sense for VCG when less then 3 years ago they informed us we are WFH permanently? What happens to us who have moved away from areas that don't have an active call center?. Thus is very upsetting.

I was told I had to RTO most days soon. The rest of my team isn’t just in other states they are all going to stay 100% WFH. So in some cases they certainly just want people to leave.
