I reread the freep article where Farley mentions the 25%.
He literally says “I think we have 25% more engineers than our competitors for the same workstreams “….
Think? No real data? It’s his whim? Seems it’s unproven to me.

Wow you are a math wiz. Even if the target is 25percent, which was never stated explicitly that we would get there, it does not keen that they will try to go to that level in one shot. Stop spreading fear and posing your speculation as fact. You don’t know.

Didn’t JF say 25% too many engineers? Many thousands of the U.S. salaried workforce are not engineers.
OP is correct. Data doesn’t lie. Just ask past CEO Alan Mulaley…
- Ford reports: The current workforce of >28,000 North American salaried employees
- 25% reduction figure given out by JF . He stated many times in 2023 as waste and unnecessary costs.
- 28,000 x 25% = >7,000 heads fired.
- This is reality.

I've been hearing 8-10k for awhile now. That this round would dwarf the last one. So 8k is the low end. Remember this is hitting most parts of the company. That adds up quickly.

Not sure if they plan on this reduction in one fell swoop, or if this is the ultimate goal over a couple years.
In either case, dust off your resume and GET OUT. It’s best to be the first rat off of a sinking ship than the last because if you are the last, you’ll find all the flotsam occupied.
