I'm done with worrying about PIPs. I realized I'd rather work for a company that lays people off than one that puts whoever it wants on a PIP to get rid of them without paying severance. That is worse ten times in my book. I'm just trying to figure out what people currently see as good alternative options.

@3han It’s not. You wouldn’t believe what these people say when they think nobody is listening or when they’re in what they call “polite” company.
Let’s ignore the severance piece of the question and provide an answer. I’m genuinely curious where people are going because I’m having thoughts of leaving, too.
It's really sad to see so many bigots here. I do really hope it's really just a minority.
@OP It’s mostly just Chevron.
I personally haven’t hired anyone from EM, and based on what I’ve seen posted here over the past few years I don’t think I ever will. There’s way too many bigots working there. It’s bad for morale, and, therefore, my bottom line. I don’t want you around me or my team.
I’ll close by saying the obvious: your company’s culture needs serious help.
There are many companies out there other than oil and gas. So many of skills are transferable.
Don’t be afraid to go for smaller companies. They also offer comparable packages.
The question should be:
Other than Chevron, where are MEDIOCRE people applying??
THE REAL TALENT IS GETTING THE FK OUT OF THE OIL INDUSTRY.
What the company is doing is avoiding paying unemployment fees. They offer you a pil on the condition you don't claim unemployment.
RE: severance.
To be fair, instead of thinking of the PIP as a plan, consider it you being let go, and the PIL is your severance. 3 months of pay isn't bad as a severance, it just sucks that it's no commensurate with your time served at the company (e.g. more years, more dough).
@lti, everyone seems to think that the company is using PIP to avoid severance, implying that layoffs would force severance. That's simply not the case.
@qqz+1njFqGWe. ASSFAC3 you can be let go with severance too! What a jerk
You can be laid off without severance. There is no legal requirement to pay severance. Why is that so hard to understand?
